Fits a Fiat 500, and works well
The Ritchies✓ Verified Purchase•February 21, 2024
I was having trouble finding a barrier to fit a Fiat 500 (2dr), as you need one that is taller than normal and very narrow. This one fits nicely! As an added bonus, you can adjust the horizontal bars at the bottom to allow your dog entry into the back seat by simply folding the front seat forward as you normally would. No need to touch the divider.
I do suggest you have a roll of electrical tape handy when assembling this, using it to make some bushings will solve the rattles and make it much sturdier.
1) The hoops expand (like a trombone slide), and therefore the diameter of the tubing on one side is different than the other side. The smaller diameter tubing does fit tightly into the clamps that attach to the vertical supports.
2) The second one is not visible in the photos, the vertical tubes are a piece of tubing with a piece of all-thread inside that fits loosely. They are adjusted by turning a large wingnut that is at the end of the tubing. Unfortunately, this creates a lot of rattles and allow the entire piece to wobble a lot when extended. Wrapping some tape around the end of the all-thread (inside the tubing) to make a bushing not only solves the rattle, it makes the entire piece much stronger.
As other reviews mention, the assembly instructions are not good but the pictures on the box help. Also, mine was missing a part so I contacted the manufacturer and had a replacement in a couple of days. I'm pretty happy with this overall, expecially for the price.

Keeps medium sized high energy dog in the back of the truck

Does a good job of keeping my dog in the back of the truck. It's almost like a police cage car for dogs. But it keeps you as the driver safe and them safe too. The only downside is the legs on this gate seem to be a bit flimsy. The plastic wingnut could be made out of metal instead of plastic for starters. Also, be careful not to put your seats back against the arms which run parallel to the floor because this will put force against the legs which may cause the whole thing to collapse if your dog jumps up on the top arm. Happened once & scared both me and my dog because the gate ended up falling on top of him; pinning him underneath it. He learned not to put his paws on it after that! My wife also drives the truck too and she is extremely shorter than me. When he puts the seat back, she puts it back too far after getting out because she is looking out for me so I don't bump my knees when I get in (darn short people!). Now, she lets me adjust the seat before I get in so the legs don't get pushed to the point where they loosen (move the seat back until it barely touches the legs; this way there is no pressure pushing against them).
Do like the gate, because it does it's job very well. I have a coonhound, beagle mix.

I needed a solution for keeping my two 100lbs dogs safe and separated from the passengers in my 2015 GMC Yukon XL.
I decided to remove the 3rd row bench and the storage compartment in the trunk, which is nice for storing small items in it, but creates a slanted cargo area, which makes groceries roll right out of your vehicle once you open the trunk. With the bench removed you get a flat cargo area, which is just a bit uneven due to the bolts from the bench (which I put back in place after removing the bench) and the brackets holding the storage compartment. I put down a piece of 3/4 plywood wrapped in carpet - this results in a 48" wide and 55" long surface, more than enough for two big dogs and it gives you a nice surface to install the pet barrier.
Installation is straight forward with clear instructions and is done in 10 to 15 minutes. I took some more time to make sure the uprights of the pet barrier were as straight as possible and I also fixed the bottom feet with some screws to my plywood floor. This way I can be sure that my dogs cannot knock the barrier over or out of place if they slam in it - in case I have to brake hard or they start goofing around in the trunk.
Because the gate is installed behind the 2nd row bucket seats I needed to cover the lower space between the bucket seats so the dogs would not try to crawl under the barrier into the passenger compartment. Another piece of plywood wrapped in carpet did the trick and was zip-tied to the bottom of the barrier. That is not a fault of the product, just a challenge of my specific application.
With the barrier installed I can fit items up to 4ft length in the trunk, if I need to transport longer items I can easily remove the horizontal bars with the quick release buttons, while letting the uprights installed.
With the 2nd row seats folded down I can then fit 8 ft long items. For longer and wider items I abandon the trunk anyways and attach the cargo trailer... ;o)
All in all a 5 star item - no complaints whatsoever. Solid made, clear instructions, no tools necessary for installation, easily adjustable in with and height and versatile due to the quick release function of the horizontal bars. I read in an other review the barrier would rattle... not mine, it makes no noise whatsoever - or at least no noise which I could distinguish from the general noise my Yukon makes when I go down a dirt road... ;o)

Easy to see through! Very adjustable

The initial process of putting the pieces together is pretty easy. The directions are super easy to follow. Once you get to actually standing up the gate and locking things into place, it's easiest to make adjustments with a second person. I originally tried to stand it up and adjust the bars myself and found it a bit awkward and difficult to tighten the pieces. With a second person, piece of cake.
When I was looking for a gate for my vehicle, I really wanted to find something that wouldn't be difficult to see through in my review mirror. With the rounded shape of the bars, and the good spacing, I hardly notice that it's there.
The bars are easy to adjust to any width to accommodate any vehicle. The bars seem to hold tight and stay in place.
My lab can be a bit excited, and has shoved open simple office gates before. The rubber feet on the two vertical bars does make me wonder of on a longer trip, she will be able to shove the gate loose and jump into the front seats. At this time, everything seems to be holding tightly. Only time will tell!

Liked it but it didn’t like my minivan sunroof
LLP✓ Verified Purchase•December 19, 2023
Just think it should be mentioned that it isn't compatible with minivans that have sunroofs. To install around the sunroof components in the roof, it ends up leaving too much of a gap at the bottom (enough that my 40 lbs dog could go under it). I didn't keep it.
