These are similar to the Wm. Smith & Son Assorted Steel Sailmaker's Needles #14-18: 20 pack that I bought so I'd have a variety of needles to use.
I haven't used them as of yet, however I am very pleased with their quality so far. They feel sturdy and have triangular points to peirce thick tough material. The eyes both look and feel solid and sturdy. Once I've had the chance to use them I'll add on to my review with what I find.

A Stitch in Time...

Sharp. Large eyes make them easy to thread. Now all I need is a sail-maker's palm (look it up). A measly thimble just doesn't seem adequate to the tasks that these needles are capable of. Really nice to find a tool that's still made in a traditional way; some things don't need improving.

This is my second time purchasing these needles for my brother. He could not be more pleased with my purchases. As he often sews leatherwork and rough materials, such as tarp he requires a needle that is able to stich a thick fabric. I am happy to report that it sews heavy fabrics with ease.

These needles are thick and sturdy and come in several sizes, with several difference sizes of eyes. That's handy when you're going between regular durable thread and twine. I bought these to sew burlap with twine, and the largest needle in the pack works great. I would definitely recommend these for anyone who has a project that requires heavy-duty sewing.
