a Z11 Pro that quit working about a month after the warranty ran out - it acts like its trying to tune but will do that without
Amazon CustomerJanuary 21, 2016
I've had 2 LDG tuners now (you would think I'd learn), one Z100 which was a piece of junk that would hardly tune a near resonant antenna, a Z11 Pro that quit working about a month after the warranty ran out - it acts like its trying to tune but will do that without finding a match as long as you are feeding it RF without ever finding a match. And now I have the Z11 Pro2. It will tune my Off Center Fed Dipole on 80 meters where the SWR is only 2.5:1 but once I start talking it will retune and stop at about 3:1 - actually makes the match worse than it is without the tuner. On several other bands it will tune just fine sometimes and other times it will settle on something like 2.4:1 and after trying several tune cycles it will finally settle on a good match but then retune to a higher swr once you turn the power up. On 17 meters my OCFD is only about a 2.2:1 and it will drop to a 1:1 with the tuner but as soon as the full 100 watts hits it, the tuner starts retuning and won't settle on a good match. This tuner would probably be fine as a field tuner for QRP work and I will try it with QRP in t he field once the spring weather gets here but it doesn't work worth crap with 100 watts and my Icom AH-4 and SGC-237 autotuners are much higher quality that tune like a charm and stay tuned ! I will never own another LDG product !
