soft, lightweight wood but overall great product, affordable and useful
Luci✓ Verified PurchaseAugust 29, 2017
I generally like this product and it's great to store craft supplies and finished artwork since the drawers aren't too deep but they're also not too shallow. The only reason I took a star off is because of two things - it is a bit fumey when it gets here and being near it has been giving me a headache... I've had one unit for about a week and a half though and the smell seems to be getting less every day. Both units I've purchased had a strong odor though and made me sneeze a lot - maybe I"m allergic to pine?
The other thing is... don't get too fooled by the 'it's real solid actual wood' thing - it is solid wood, don't get me wrong, but since the wood is so soft and lightweight I feel that it's very comparable in both quality and durability and stability to chipboard furniture in the same price range. I'm just saying that cause some people read 'solid wood' and think 'durable heirloom quality furniture' - it's not that and for the price, why would it be?
I found it super easy to put together and all it requires is a screw driver and a hammer. I did mine in under an hour. One drawer front in each of the units I ordered was damaged (manufacturing flaw - not during shipping it seems) but they're process for ordering free replacement parts is super simple.
Man these are the best!! I used these to make a manicure ...

Man these are the best!! I used these to make a manicure table. I had a slab of maple that I put as the table top and cut 2 pieces to fit at the bottom of each unit and purchased casters from Home Depot. I know the plastic ones that came with it wasn't going to hold the weight. My husband drilled a hole in the table top for my light and I have a customized manicure table. The only con is that the drawers aren't tall enough for my tallest bottles of gel polish (orly brand) thankfully I only have 3 of those bottles. Best purchase I highly recommend. I did have an issue with a piece not fitting properly as it was damaged. The company responded quickly and while I ended up not needing the piece replaced they still offered a discount! That's great service!
Great drawers--if you build carefully--detailed pictures below.

These drawers are excellent, provided you take the extra time and care to build them properly. This is not at all like IKEA furniture that you can slap together in an hour or two. However, it does include very detailed 7-page assembly instructions, a listing of all the parts in the kit, and the tools required"”see the excerpt in my pics. I have built two of these drawers, and I found it took at least 5 hours each, plus some time to finish things up. Of all my tips below, the best would be: carefully align parts for assembly and predrill *every* hole that requires a screw. Careful alignment and pre-drilling takes some time, but the results are worth it. Driving screws into wood is not only much more difficult, but it will create alignment problems for the joints.

Here are some tips which improved my results. 1. Pay close attention to dowel length. Dowels should not protrude more than 10mm from the vertical drawer sides. If they do, they may break through the top of the drawer, as seen in picture 1"”a mistake I repaired. When installing the runners, make sure the drawer sides sit on a clean, flat surface so they don't bend or mar the finish. Then make sure the runners are hammered all the way in, or the drawers will slide tightly.

On attaching crossbars and top to the side panels: I got best results when I use an awl to show where I pre-drill the holes for the bottom crossbars and top"”pic 2. Since the screws enter the top and bottom at an angle, it's important this isn't left to chance. The drill size I used for predrilling these holes is 5/64""”be very careful not to overdrill into the top piece.

Assembling the drawers: the most critical aspect is to properly align the drawer front to the sides so that the gap for the drawer bottom lines up to ensure this piece will later slide in easily"”see pic 3. When attaching the back piece, I find it's easier to line everything up flush by securing with a big rubber band"”pic 4. Then, I use an awl to mark where the holes go into the back piece, and I pre-drill the holes with a 1/8" drill. The drawer pieces are precisely cut, and don't require fussing with squares or a miter clamp"”only marking and pre-drilling carefully.

Finally, if the drawers suffered any damage in shipping or from a bad joint"”it's easy to repair since it's solid wood. Picture 5 shows a defect in a joint that was easily filled by Quikwood® Epoxy 2oz. This is the best product I've found to patch dings and cracks in wood, and it comes in an assortment of colors. Finally, I polished the drawers with Briwax Furniture Wax Polish - Clear, which deepens the color and adds a durable shine to the pine wood"”I've included a picture of the result.
I'd love to give this more because it's wood
Tokeli✓ Verified PurchaseApril 29, 2017
Oof. I'd love to give this more because it's wood, but... putting it together was a pain, and you've got to be extra careful about the direction you screw in the angled nails, or they won't even go thru the other piece of wood. Thankfully, I followed another review's suggestion and used wood glue as well.

+ Looks nice and is sturdy once put together. If you use glue.
- Shallow, tiny drawers.
- No back-stop to prevent the drawers from coming out entirely.
- Drawers have crappy plastic rollers they just sorta scrape across.
- Some screws go at a poor angle.
- Mine came with one of the main wood panels slightly bowed inward, making ONE of the drawers ridiculously hard to open. Can't see any way to fix it.

Update: Upgraded it to 4 stars because after a few days, the drawers are now able to roll more freely.
plastic drawer slides
Thekat0✓ Verified PurchaseDecember 18, 2016
This took a good 45+ minutes to put together. I really do like the drawer set, but I wish drawer slides weren't made of plastic. It makes it feel so cheap. I'm going to look into replacing the them with metal of some kind (I don't know how/if this is possible) but it would really enhance this product. For spending as much as I did on this, I was fairly disappointed to find out the slides were plastic.
