Great Idea Well made.

Very well made. Holds the firearms nicely. Magazine compartments are too deep but are a easy fix but using the material from the cut outs to make a custom depth for your magazine. Just cut off how much you want to put in the hole to make the mag stick up as high as you want. I like to have it sticking up making it easier to grab.. Lot of questions about will it fit a fat 50 cal ammo can or others.... my best advice is look at the size description on the product page then go measure your ammo can. Mine fits like a glove. My ammo can is the green metal cans that Academy sells. Yeah you could take some foam and make your own but it will not be as clean and built as good as this. It would be a long process of gluing and stacking and then trying to cut it all straight. They do any that for you. These look like they came this way from the ammo can manufacture. The foam they use is about the same density as those swimming pool floating noodles. Very fine quality. I recommend these highly.

Nice idea, the gun slots seem to have been cut for a revolver or other big gun. a 1911 sits loose in it. and the magazine holders were way too deep and made for something like a Glock magazine, big and square. The foam could have been more dense as well for durability. The bottom and top pads are not vary thick at all compared to the rest of the casing so I would replace that with something with more padding as its going to get tore up from the gun moving around eventually. I have purchased ammo cans from Walmart, harbor freight and one other store and they were all of different sizes even though they all claimed to be .50 cal cans. These cases only seem to fit inside the cans sold at Walmart as the other cans from other stores were bigger. I could have sent it back but I chose to keep it to try and see what can be done with it to fit my pistol better.

Best bang for the buck

It is a snug fit and worked perfectly with the locking kit by the same manufacturer. All of the cutout foam is included so you can store fewer than 2 guns and 4 mags and still have a snug fit. It is rugged but also easy to trim for a custom contoured application - just trace and trim the profile outline of your gun on the foam inserts and it will fit like a glove. The only complaint? Price is a touch high for what amounts to rugged packing material, but it is precisely and cleanly cut. For 25% less, it would be a deal. That being said, you won't find a better gun case for the price of this kit and surplus ammo can.
