Not the Husky I used to know... but found a simple fix
CraigEJuly 21, 2017
Installed it about two weeks ago and have found that the float sticks on a regular basis. Very disappointed. My 1,000 gallon water tank has a slightly domed top and I was careful to install the gauge in a vertical position, which was no small task. Having been in the petroleum construction industry for many years, I was very familiar with Husky products and felt comfortable with the purchase. Bummed.

Update 8-3-17: I thought about how the float would stick in an up position. That is, when the tank was being drawn down, the float would hang up and not move down. I reasoned that maybe the section of chain I cut off, per the instructions, (72" tall tank) was enough weight to affect the retractor spring in the meter, preventing the float to drop. I weighed the piece of cut chain at 5.5 grams. So I zip-tied a hex nut that weighed 7 grams to the bottom of the chain, just above the float. It hasn't stuck since. Hey Husky, update your instructions!
Unit failed after 18 months!
Kona BoyApril 28, 2017
Purchased this unit over cheaper tank gauges in Oct of 2015 because reviews said the cheap gauges ($30-$50) tended to fail within 6 - 12 months. Unit worked great until a few weeks ago when it failed. The tension spring inside somehow stopped functioning. So it won't retract the slack chain back inside the housing. Emailed Husky and they said that the 12-month warranty had expired and that I'd have to pay for shipping and parts, if I wanted to have them repair the unit.

Very disappointed that this fairly expensive ($150) and sturdy product failed so quickly and that Husky didn't step up a little more. Can't say whether this was a one-off defective unit or if this is a common occurrence. I did buy another Black Knight about 4 weeks ago for another tank, and I'm really hoping that it's not the latter! If so, we'll all find out in about 18 months.

It's all plastic, with a very little gasket under the face, I put 40 gallons in it and it starts coming out this gauge, the tank is rated to 45 gallons, I took the face apart and added some sealant then put it back together, hoping that would stop the leak. Now it leaks a little still with 40 gallons in the tank, I wish for the money they charge it would have been made leak free. Ken Porter
The best I could find

This is the best water-level gage for rain water tanks I could find. You will not be disappointed with it. One note of caution: one may NOT want to follow the mounting instructions to the letter. To obtain accurate readings, the owner is instructed to cut the wire holding the floater to the right length, so that the gage will read how many inches of water are left in the tank (99inches max). This is all fine and dandy so far as you will never upgrade your tank to a taller one. If you do, then the wire will be too short, and the gage useless. In my case, I chose not to shorten the wire. Now my gage reads 99" when full, and 50" when empty (that's right, the water column in my tank is 49" tall exactly). Since I know what those numbers mean, that works for me. I don't need to shorten the wire to make the gage read 49" when full, and 0" when empty, and next summer I can upgrade to the new 88"-tall tank.
PROs: sturdy, accurate, simple to install, will work with any water tank large enough to hold a 2 1/8"-hole on top, made in USA.
CONs: A bit pricy for what it is.
