Great for a novice

As a pure novice, this detector has been awesome. I may not know what I'm missing with a much more expensive machine, but learning this unit has been a snap and very productive. I am extremely confident with it compared to other similarly priced models I've used.
... Bounty Hunter Quick Draw Pro is not only a great detector for the price
John Schmidt•December 10, 2016
The Bounty Hunter Quick Draw Pro is not only a great detector for the price...it a great detector period. Being very light weight at 2.3lbs, you can swing this detector all day and not have to worry about arm fatigue like many heavier detectors. It runs 25 hours on a single 9v battery. Detects coins at 8 inches in all but the very worst soils.
It has adjustable sensitivity meaning you can run shallow or deep. Adjustable volume so you do not have to rely on headphones with a slider or knob.
A great discrimination circuit so you can silence unwanted targets from left to right on the 9 category scale along the top of the LCD. Or a very handy "notch" feature where you can leap-frog categories and keep nickels in while eliminating other trash in the gold range.
The QDP has both audio and visual ID....
Audio ID:
It has 3 tones. Low, medium, and high. Iron will give a low tone. The gold range where many items like foil/aluminum/zinc reside will give a mid tone. Silver coins, modern clad, and copper pennies will give a very crisp high tone.
Visual ID:
The QDP has a 0-99 target ID. Meaning it places a single or double digit number to an object. A nickel for example, will ring up as a 35 on the ID. A dime will ring up in the 60's while a quarter in the 70's. It also has 9 target categories along the top of the LCD that will ID where the target lies on the scale.
It has a very large and easy to read LCD that includes a depth meter and battery indicator. Hard not to like this detector for the price.
I have a review of it on Youtube where I live and breathe metal detecting.. Just search TheHunterGT for my Youtube/Facebook/Website.
