Do not use the orange cartridges!!

Vitamin C degrades quickly in water, turning orange in the process. That's why they always make the cartridges orange. I still use the filter body, but I put in a small amount of fresh vitamin C powder every time before I shower. This is a much better solution considering I already spent $60 on the damn thing. You feel the difference immediately. This method actually works while the cartridges do literally nothing and are probably doing more harm than good.

Very happy with this product. I did a lot of research to find a filter that works for chloramine, which my water company uses, not just chlorine. I noticed an immediate change in my hair, which used to end up like straw, and my skin felt so dry. It ran out the other day and I immediately noticed the difference. Yes it's all plastic but once it is installed you dont need to mess with it except to change the filter. Wish the refills were a bit less expensive, but its worth it for my health. The chlorine and chloramine are especially toxic to breathe when in the steam.
Stopped working completely after a week

Working amazing for a week then chlorine smell returned. Changed the filter even though it had only been a week and that didn't work either. By then I had already ordered a second one. Same issue- worked awesome for a week or so and then nothing, even when a new filter was put in. Would love to keep it I could figure out how to get them both working again!
Filter out toxic chloramine while making your hair and skin feel softer!

I was having the problem of feeling light-headed after taking hot showers so I decided to try and filter out the nasty chloramine my city puts in the water. Yes, this thing is made of plastic and isn't the strongest build quality, and yes you'll have to replace the filter every 2-4 weeks, but if you want to stop exposing yourself to toxic chloramine (which is at its worst when you inhale the hot steam in your shower) then this filter is a MUST. Buy it. Install it carefully. And you will not regret it!
I also recommend doing as other reviewers have suggested and install a Captain Eco 5 Stage Shower Filter before the vitamin C filter. This two step setup is a little clunky and you might have to also install a shower arm extension, but your body will thank you for the extra effort.
On a side note: my girlfriend immediately noticed that her hair and skin felt and looked better than it ever has and now always uses my shower instead of hers.

MONEY SAVING TIP: let the water warm up using the bathroom sink (not the shower), preserving the vitamin c cartridge

Works fine, but you can waste a lot of vitamin c waiting for the shower to warm up before getting in.
Solution -- run your bathroom sink to warm up the water! Once the sink's water is warm, the shower will heat up almost instantly, maximizing the life of the vitamin c cartridge and saving you money on refills.
