Excellent Pedal with Polarity Switch
Mark✓ Verified PurchaseSeptember 8, 2023
Nice sturdy pedal with a polarity switch, meaning that is can be used by most if not all electrical Keyboards. The rubber base helps to increase friction between the pedal and the floor. Mine is on a polished wooden floor, and it does not move the entire time I play it.
Best sustain pedal I've used so far....

I've been playing keyboard professionally for about 20 years now and I've replaced many Yamaha sustain pedals. Both FC3 and FC4 (I think that's the name). Tried M Audio several times too; and some other brands, in search of a good sturdy sustain pedal that's not slippery. I find myself changing sustain pedals too often. Most piano style pedals feel good but move around too much while plaging.

I had to perform on a prestige cruise ship and this one was provided for use. I was instantly impressed with the way it felt. It's rubber texture was great. Sure, it moved but not as much as others. And its built really well in my opinion.

After several uses I purchased on myself after my sustain pedal gave up again. I love it. I hope it outlast all the rest I've had. But if it doesn't I'll probably just re-purchase.
Solid Build - Very Quiet

I'm using this in an entirely unconventional way. I have it mounted at the bridge of my guitar where I can press with my palm to trigger a customized EHX Freeze pedal. My feet are busy playing foot drums and I was looking for a way to get the freeze effect without my feet on the Freeze pedal. So I now have a sustain pedal for guitar. This pedal is very well built! I found the spring action to be a bit too strong for my unconventional use. It was super easy to open this pedal and simply replace the spring with one that met my needs. It's also very quiet and very solid.
It's all good

I was brought up on piano, and have played on and off since the 1940s. I dabbled with electronic keyboards in the early 1990s, but at that time used one of those clicky footswitches as a sustain pedal. I'm starting again, with a Roland RD-700 stage piano, and wanted to get a real pedal this time.

The Nektar fills the bill. It feels like a piano pedal, and the result is a good sound. That should be enough, but I'd like to compliment the NP-2 on a few things that could be issues.

Let me express disagreement with the reviewer who said it doesn't work on a carpet. My living room has a carpet -- rather thick, in fact -- and I was worried about this. I shouldn't have worried. It works fine on my carpet.

The polarity switch is a big plus here. The RD-700 requires a polarity just the opposite of what I expected. In fact, my old clicky footswitch was an inverse sustain; it sustained without the pedal, and dropped the sustain when I pressed it. Couldn't fix it for that pedal, but it was routine and easy with the Nektar; just throw the built-in switch.

I can't comment on durability. I haven't had this for long enough. It is going to stay in the living room home studio, so I don't expect any problem. It's not like I'm touring or gigging out with it. If it fails, its durability will be have to be very poor indeed.

BTW, I got two of them. My son has the other, and his kids, my grandkids, will be learning on a Yamaha electronic piano using it. Knowing the twins, it better be durable. :)

Bottom line: I'm very happy with my purchase.
Works great with Nektar products!

It has worked exactly as it should the past few years with my 49-key Nektar keyboard. It's a plug-n-play pedal that has the strong weight and resistance a keyboard pedal should have for this price range. Super impressed with it! I also remember dealing with customer service because it never showed up after a week or two, and that process was a breeze.

I wish it would have come with a Nektar keyboard instead of being sold separately. However, that doesn't affect my score and I'd still recommend it to someone who has a Nektar keyboard.
