Sink Strainer Installation Issue.
Marc•September 2, 2017
I was able to install this without too much problems. It came with foam insulator rings that go between the sink surface and the strainer lip that should seal the water from leaking. I first installed it with the rings only and it leaked. Unfortunately, I had to take it apart and using the plumber's putty with the foam rings, there are no leaks. Other than this minor inconvenience, we love the looks and the quality of these sink strainers and the sink works well.
Push closed
Daniel Lavoie•April 8, 2017
I purchased two of these when I replaced my sink because I wanted the ball bearing closure. They have been working good and I have not had any problems but it doesn't take a lot of force to push the strainer closed. The only problem I have is that I inadvertently push it closed often. Other than mentioned it appears it will last a long time.
Good product, relatively easy to install
SYF•January 13, 2017
Was relatively easy to install and the fact that it is tall has improved flow into the drain as compared to the one it replaced that had rusted and become pitted The removable basket sits centered slightly above sink drain when opened and locks with a ball bearing closure. It seals well and holds water when needed and the positive locking mechanism allows water to drain when seal is not engaged without having the strainer sitting at an angle etc. as was the case with the one it replaced. I used normal plumbers putty vs. the foam gaskets that came with it as read some negative stuff online about foam gaskets.
Works Great

I replaced the old sink basket about a year ago with this product, and it has been working well. It did leak a few days after installing it, but all I had to do was tighten the collar and it stopped, and it has not resumed. I saw a review before I bought it that said the owner took out the seals that came with it and put putty in, but try tightening it first. The "bell" that transfers pressure from the collar to the sink bottom is pretty strong; I don't think you'll crush it. And the seals that come with this set are so much nicer than putty, which squeezes out and fails eventually. The strainer will tend to slip down and engage the stopper occasionally, but just lift it up. It's a very minor inconvenience.
Easy Install and Solid Construction

Easy install after a trip to the local hardware store for the downstream piping. I did end up using the gasket they provided instead of the usual plumbers putty. We'll see how this lasts after a few years. For now, the gasket holds a full deep sink with not the slightest showing of a leak. The drain itself is constructed well and installed with no issues.
I think that this drain will fair much better than the one the contractor installed (incorrectly - didn't use a tailpiece). Remember, use a tailpiece and gasket, as is recommended by engineering best practice in order to avoid leaks!
