A safety upgrade for my Massey 135 tractor

The 10SI that was on my 1966 Massey Ferguson 135 (Perkins diesel) died and I wanted a safety upgrade. The alternator sits out on the side of the engine with no guard. The fins on the running 10SI cooling fan could tear some flesh with a slip or fall. The fan on this 12SI looks a lot safer. I certainly didn't need 94 amps and doubt that I will ever use it. Charging kicks on at about 800 rpm of the engine, or 2400(?) rpm of the alternator. So far, I have left pin 1 unconnected and have connected pin 2 to the output post. Some day I'll change the alternator pulley (sheave) width to match the width of the engine's pulleys. Overall, alternator installation took about 40 minutes and I have no complaints. I'll check back in a couple of years.

After doing a bunch of research trying to find the best price on a new alternator, I ended up purchasing this unit for my 84 T/A. The one that had been replaced by previous owner wasn't the correct amperage and was no longer holding a charge with accessories on. Swapped it with this puppy and off I went. No more dimming headlights when my fan kicks on, and no more anxiously watching my battery gauge as I sit in traffic. Good buy!

Very well built. Went to auto parts store and tested it. Advertising amp is 94, but this produces a max of 110 amps at 14.4 volts dc. Also like the idea that all parts (including case) is new, not rebuilt. Had to change out the pulley (from 3/8" wide -stock, to 1/2" wide x 2.61" diameter).
