I bought the mini-skull by the same manufacturer a few years back, and used it as a reference for my illustration work. While I love that little one, the details in the eye sockets, fissures, and teeth were just vague enough to require a fair amount of recreation after the photo references were imported. I expect this larger one to be much more accurate for photo references for future projects.

This is a good skull model - appropriate/full scale, decent casting from the mold (minor flashing artifacts that can easily be removed/sanded), feels like it will be durable. (This is a replacement for one I got in the 80's but lost in the early 00's.)
My original skull model had more separately cast bits (which required gluing together, but represented the nature of those bones a little better), but this model has a spring to retain the jaw (rather than a rubber band), and the silicone "cartilage" at the jaw hinges is nice. The old model had only 4 plastic pins to retain the top of the skull, (which broke off), whereas as the new model has 6 plastic pins and 2 magnets - much improved. It also features different stages for wisdom teeth (the left side has them fully in place, the right has a partially formed top one and no bottom).
The finish on the new model is more bleached (the old model had a more ivory-like coloring), but I imagine it will mellow with time.

I named him Zeke. He keeps me company while I write. He's also magnificent for Halloween decorating, as an artist's model, or for anatomy study. This was probably modeled after an actual skull because the teeth are not perfectly symmetrical. The mandible is attached by springs, which increases its sturdiness.
