Not bad, not great.

At first this wasn't working for me, but I noticed after inserting the dongle I have to push it closer to the controller until it's snug up against it. Then it was working each time I placed the controller on the charger. Sometimes I need to place it the exact right way or adjust the dongle a bit. One time with a controller that was completely dead it wasn't registering on the Nyko at first. I had to start charging it with the usb cable for a few seconds and then placed the dongle on the controller and the Nyko finally saw it and charged it. Little things like that make this unit just ok, not great but it works more than it doesn't.
Some controllers seem too light to make proper contact, but there's an easy fix.

I have two PS3 controllers, one red and one black, and for whatever reason the red one doesn't allow for proper contact to be made to charge, while my other controller charges fine. This happens no matter if the controller is docked in the front or back dock, and regardless of which dongle is attached. Same effect. Perhaps Sony made later versions of the PS3 controller lighter or something.
In any case a quick, albeit inelegant, fix I found was to just wrap a rubber band around the dock base so that it will help pull down the charge dongle to the metal contacts. It's not great but perhaps black rubber bands would make it stand out less if I really cared. I know that's not the ideal solution for some, but if you're still looking for a charge dock for a ps3 controller in 2018, it's not a bad option.

Fatal design flaw

Very disappointed in this product. The controller has to sit just right on the spring loaded connector to charge. There's no way to snap the controller in the slot, so the connector usually pushes the controller off. I can get the upper slot to charge a Sony controller (Dual Shock 3 Sixaxis), but the lower slot doesn't work because the spring is to stiff. This product cannot be used with off-brand controllers (e.g. DainSlef), because the shape won't fit into the slot regardless of the force used. The power light for the unit is also always on so there is some energy use.

I've only had it for a few days, but this is a great charger. The dongles are securely attached to the controller and can be easily removed. Some reviewer mentioned that the controller did not sit in the cradle without applying some force on it. I'm not sure what that's about because the controller fits very comfortably in the cradle. The charging lights automatically turned off when the controllers were fully charged. I can now remove the USB cable from the PS3 -- very happy to be able to charge the controllers without the PS3 turned on.
Stopped Working After a Couple Weeks

Worked ok for the first couple of weeks. Then the front port stopped charging. Thought it may have been the connector piece that mounts to the controller. Swapped connector pieces and realized it was the front port. I have the same charger for my other systems (XboxOne and Xbox360) and both are still running strong. Previous reviews should have made me realize not to get this one.
