I first saw Robert plant (not in person) as a 16 year old teenager. I was thunderstruck. A life long fan of Zep, I've listened as Robert has delved into many music genres. I came to know this music when I recorded a concert on the AXS channel and watched later. I am entranced. Bought the CD and listen to it everyday. Is it possible to wear out a CD? Surely I have to be close. This music speaks to my soul.
Zep meets Dead Can Dance

I cannot claim to have heard all of his solo albums, but this is my favorite of the ones i have. Really interesting and exotic sounds, and his voice is more mellow and is richer. the recording, with mastering by Bob Ludwig is great. huge sound stage and deep bass. think of it as a cross between Zep and Dead Can Dance. I like it a lot
Robert Plant - Another Winner

Robert Plant continues to be on a creative roll with this most recent collection. I am not sure that World Music is the best way to describe the material on this album, but it certainly covers a wide array of musical styles and textures and is influenced by a myriad of geographical references. I have seen quite a few reviews where people mention that they did not like the album at first, but with repeated listens, (or different listening circumstances) it grew on them to the point where they enjoyed it. This is understandable as the album contains a lot of subtle charms that are not necessarily on the surface upon first listen. In fact I would say this is true of many of Plants more recent efforts. They are not going to knock you over the head, but will win you over. I enjoy every track on this one. Led Zeppelin it isn't, but Plant jumped off that train years ago. This album is mature rock oriented music that proves that one of the great voices of rock n roll can still deliver the goods from both a vocal and songwriting perspective. Great stuff.
Prefer his early records more

I think RP has one of the greatest voices in RnR history. For me his first two albums were outstanding. E Especially The Principle Of Moments. Robbie Blunt and Phil Collins mixed with Robert was a perfect blend.
This record......well it's okay. It is very differant from his early records and I guess I simply prefer that " 80's sound" from this.
I enjoyed some of it but it simply didn't grab me like I'd hoped. I will spin it a few more times down the road( actually listening to it on the road may be the best way to listen to it) and maybe it will grow on me more.
Beautiful Lullaby!

Robert Plant and his band of Sensational Space Shifters have created an amazing album with Lullaby And The Ceaseless Roar. I'm usually hard pressed to rate modern era albums with five stars. This one deserves it. There really are no duds throughout the eleven tracks. I do like some songs more than others. Up On The Hollow Hill is on my most liked list. Robert's haunting vocals and the spooky sounding music push this track over the top for me. Robert somehow manages to deliver vastly different moods from song to song through his vocal approach. He sounds sweet on the country twinged Poor Howard. He then turns whimsical sounding on House Of Love. I almost feel as if he's whispering some long lost secret in my ear that only I can hear. The Sensational Space Shifters clearly bring out the best in Robert's senior voice. I'd recommend this one to any Robert Plant fan. I've been listening to the entire album daily for the past few weeks prior to writing this review. It has only become more enjoyable with all the repeated listens.
