Silent and reliable operation since 2015
Robert SchultzMarch 26, 2017
This power supply has been working perfectly since Oct 2015, I purchased it brand new from Amazon. The main reason I chose it is because it has no fans, it's all passive cooling and so is TOTALLY SILENT. No buzzing, no fans to make noise, no noise whatsoever. A nice quiet electronics workbench power supply. Woot :)
Has Worked Out Well

I bought this to work on a DC-DC power supply design project and it's been great so far. Very happy with it.
Poor quality control
Son KimSeptember 7, 2016
I bought this awhile ago, never really tested it until recently with a LED light hook up. The positive(red) output seem to be very finicky, I can't plug my banana plug into at the center I have to literally move it to the left, right, or down to make a electrical connection otherwise the LED light won't light up. My solution is to use a rubber band to "hold" it in place...and it does not always stay in place by the looks of it(my LED just went out). For 100 USD I was expecting more...Now I just have a 100 dollar brick..

I ordered some new banana plugs, if it turns out that the plug is at fault , i'll change my review and rating. Right now the only solution is to wrap a thin copper coil around the banana plug, the connection holds even if I move the cable around(with the rubber band that won't work).

edit: So it turns out my Elenco Banana to Alligator was bad, I got a replace and now it works great. I'll give it 4 stars now. Minus 1 for being a bit counter intuitive for its price.

Decent little power supply for hobby work. Voltage stays solid and I even had it running some handheld stuff like an old battery powered portable television and a game boy just to test it out. Broke out the DMM and checked both the constant voltage and constant amperage modes and didn't run into any problems. Overall, I'm pleased with what I got.

There are some cons, but they are more nit-picks than anything. The display can be off by 0.1 volts. If you use a multimeter to make sure the right voltage is set before connecting to a circuit like most people do anyways, this isn't gonna be a problem. Also, while the instruction book works, the instructions can be a bit confusing. For example, the section on setting the output current keeps referring to an "Accidental Protection Key" that does not exist on the unit. It's not even referenced in the instrument description. It's easy enough to figure out how to get the constant current setting to work, though it may throw off some newbies using this as their first supply.

This is a good product (TP3005DM) but according to the vendor literature it takes 30 minutes after startup to reach maximum stability. This is not a problem for anything I do but may be important to others. The output current limiting adjustment is not intuitive but doesn't take long to figure out and works as it should.
