Good Small Mold for Lotion Bars

I purchased this "baking" pan mold in order to make home made lotion bars. I had read that the mold can sometimes stick, causing some of the pattern to be lost. I have found that only to be the case if the pan is not fully dried, or if water gets into the lotion bar, settling to the bottom of the mold. Most all other bars have come out perfectly with no problems. I have made thicker bars and more malleable bars, and both seem to work. The mold is fairly small, however, they fit perfectly in the small tins that I purchased. I would suggest checking the dimensions if you are trying to utilize for something larger (like a larger bar of soap). Only other thing of note is that the pan is rubber, and not solid.

I used this mold the other day to make some soaps for Christmas gifts and it worked great! The soaps popped right out when they were dry and didn't leave any residue behind and didn't break when getting removed. The only thing to note is that these molds are rather small, like tiny hotel soap size as opposed to a regular bar of soap. It only took half a pound of melt & pour soap to fill the whole thing. Really cute, just small.

I bought this item to put homemade all natural lotion in to form bars and put a nice design on them. It does just this. I now also use it to make large, round, pretty ice cubes and plan on using it as a chocolate mold in the future too. The silicone is very " floppy" . Some silicone molds are stiffer and some are more floppy. The down side of floppy is you have to place it on a tray to keep it level in the freezer ( unless you just stretch it taunt as you carry it full of water to freezer & have a level surface to put it on. The upside of " floppy " silicone molds is its much easier to get what you molded out of the mold. I'll take floppy over a stiff mold any day . Stiff molds are harder to get the ice, lotion, chocolate, etc . out of.

This is just an awesome mold. I use it to make sample soaps and they look outstanding. Soap pops out without any issue and the mold keeps its shape great. I've used it over and over again and its holding up.
