Stays in place but has a few flaws.

On the positive side, this thing really does stay in place. It is sturdy and pretty well build. On the negative side, with the cover on my phone (Motorola Droid Turbo 2), it is an extremely tight fit. The jaws need to be a few millimeters deeper to properly hold it. I can get my phone to stay in, but the slightest bump to the phone and it falls out. It does stay in with most bumps in the road. The other negative is that the neck is too short. I drive an RX8 with a short curved dashboard and low windshield. I've placed it as far back as it can go, and that's just barely on the front edge of the dashboard and the phone bumps into the windshield. The last negative is that the base is stiff. As I said, my dashboard is curved and the edges of this thing will not conform to the curve. It wants to sit perfectly flat. I want to rate it 3.5 stars.

Seems like a great product, however it will not hold a cell phone with even a thin case on it. Be prepared to use this product with your case removed. Unfortunately, I am returning it because of this. I have an Android phone with a very thin v-skin case and it will not fit in the holder. The price is wide enough just the price that actually grips the phone is not deep enough.

Works as advertised! The base is adequately weighted and the mount does not move or tip while in use. However, the angle adjustment plate does not use an adjustment bolt so it feels a little loose and sloppy, and there is no way to fix this.
I have used this mount with and iPhone 5s, 6s, and 7 with no problems!
Helpful tip: If you rotate the clamp 180 degrees (so the movable part of the clamp is on the bottom), it is possible to insert your phone with one hand.

Excellent product, tried a few of these dash phone holders.
I reside on a non paved dirt road and as often as I drive, for a few miles there are many dents in the road which every phone holder has slid off the dash or windshield.
This holder also slides so very slowly and only after many bumps it may slide off completely.
It is easy to place the phone in the holder with once hand and type, the adjustments are solid and can face you Vertically or Horizontally.
I am about to purchase this holder again as after more than 6 month of use it finally broke from a slide and crash on the passenger seat

TOTALLY AWESOME!!! I did not want to use the "sticky" pad for the dash or window. They will do some damage after awhile. This bean bag holder is almost like the one I used with my Garmin. I have the iPhone 6 and this holder is perfect. I now use by phone as my GPS and it's
fantastic! And, this holder stays in place. I place mine right above the steering wheel on the dashboard! I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one if needed!!
