Ive been into CB's since I was 13 years old.
Back in the day, Astatic was the cream of the crop.
Although this mic transmits great, it's plastic ,light and cheap! This is so disappointing for an Astatic product.
The side transmit button is so cheap and flimsy that it gives a constant ratttle while driving .
Functionality wise, it's a decent mic, but quality wise, it's like cheap China made junk.

Awesome communication from seller. Item works. I have it as a spare microphone to test 2 way radios. Used it on my Kenwood HF radio AM Mode, turned down the audio a bit and contact said it sounded great! I punched through the pileup. Go fig! Lol =)
Incredible performance....if only it lasted more than 2 days

I owned a Road Devil years ago. It was a quality mic that gave me years and years of trouble free performance. When I received this mic, I couldn't wait to try it out.
Upon opening it up and handling it, it felt much lighter and flimsier than the one I owned before. The two halves of the "clamshell" were also slightly different shades of red; another bad sign. In addition, the back half of the mic had what appeared to be a black smudge of grease, or possibly, a poor pigmentation of red with a dark spot.
Undaunted, I moved ahead and installed the 9 volt. When I hooked it up, the audio was bodacious and loud, (I could hear the modulation buzzing right through the radio transformer- when you just KNOW it's loud!) and the noise cancelling worked well...for a day and a half.
After a day of use, the key switch became "scratchy" and progressively and rapidly got worse until my audio began cutting out altogether. Premium quality, no-residue contact cleaner did nothing to help. After opening the mic to install the battery and then again to clean the contacts, I could see the plastic standoffs for the screw threads began spitting out plastic shards. This is a very bad sign. I am guessing that after a few more times of using the screws, the threads would be totally stripped out. The plastic is of the very lowest quality, which is truly baffling to me. There are so many readily available, cheap, strong plastics today that endure extreme and hostile environments, and yet this mic feels hopelessly brittle and dainty- especially the key, which is the one moving part!
Even though I loved the mic's style and big audio, and even contemplated buying a replacement switch to solder in, I decided against it; As a matter of principle, I just can't invest another 30% of what I paid for the mic plus the time to repair something brand new that should give years of trouble free operation.
I wanted this to be my new go-to mic and I gave it every chance, but ended up returning it. If the key switch was the only issue, I would optimistically roll the dice and buy another to replace it, but there are too many telltale signs of low quality to justify giving it another go.
Unfortunately, this seems to be another terrible and shameful example of a formerly well made (Astatic was made in USA) quality product that is now manufactured overseas with abysmally low quality parts and nonexistent quality control.

I received it today, works well with my vintage 23 Channel RCA Co-Pilot. I'm a bit old school and that's all I need. For those concerned with the wiring for a particular brand of radio they do offer the adapters here on Amazon. No need to pay someone to rewire a mic these days.
