Decent rations, but requires a lot of water!

So I ended up eating one of the packs after I got lost for a bit, so I feel like I can give some good pros and cons
One extremely important disadvantage that needs to be mentioned is that you have to have an ample supply of water with you to eat this thing. You'll get the same feeling you get when you eat saltines, as the wheat really drys out your mouth and there's no way you can eat a significant portion without extra water. Just something to keep in mind if you take this along into the outdoors, like I do.
All things considered, the taste is actually pretty good - kind of an apple cinamon cereal taste except it's an extremely dense wheat bar. If you're not a fan of sugary things, this might not be the product for you as it definitely hits a sweet tooth. All things considered, it could be worse, and I was honestly content eating it.
Basically any compact "ration bar" is going to just be unlevened wheat mixed with flavoring, which is exactly what this is. The difficulty is it's actually kind of hard to eat. It's very hard and very crumbly, to the point I was sticking a knife in it to get some pieces off (there are a bunch of mini bars within the pack that break easily if you put some force, but beyond that it's hard to break apart or bit off). It's easy to eat if you get it broken down into small pieces, but it's hard to get to that point in the first place, and you'll drop a whole bunch of it along the way.
Another con is that there's no hiding the smell that comes from this thing. I have a terrible sense of smell, and even I can smell the apple cinammon coming off the packaging extremely clearly. That means that any animals are going to smell this thing from a mile away - the wrapper is not going to contain it at all.

Looks like a good product. I didn't open them, these are intended to store in an emergency kit. Good packaging, vacuum seal intact, good price. (Bought them when they were on sale.)
Pack date: 04/2021
Purchase date: 06/2023
Expiration date: 04/2026
These are not certified by the US Coast Guard, unlike some of the more expensive competition, if that matters to you.
If you are looking for a luxurious camping food, look elsewhere. This is a basic emergency food stock that is intended to last a long time and keep you alive, that's it. It will probably not taste good. It looks like it will perform that job just fine. It's not steak and lobster, and it isn't intended to be.

I bought this item to put in my emergency bag and I thought it was going to be big but it's a good size for a small back pack
Not getting full 5 years

I haven't tried them yet, so I cannot attest to the taste or texture. The one thing that bothered me from the start is that, based on the manufacturing date and expiration date, the 5 year shelf life was already down to 3 years when it arrived. If you buy something with a lengthy shelf life, you rightfully don't expect nearly half of it to already have passed.
Inspect for damage on arrival, tastes like bland shortbread.

Short review
seem like a good emergency source of calories, tastes like the crust of a fig newton, only an inch thick, and very hard, think bland dense cinnamon flavored shortbread. But hey! for $5 who can complain, BUT.. They wont do you any good If they arrive damaged. Inspect each parcel carefully out of the box, Good ones will be tight and vacuum sealed, bad ones will be loose, and unsafe for long term storage and protection.
Long story
I ordered 4 of these the first time, I received them and and put them in a box, after they had kicked around in the box for a week I happened to take them out and discovered that two of them were punctured, and the vacuum seal broken. I didnt know if they had come that way, or if they had somehow been damaged by sitting in the box for a week, anyhow, I just shrugged it off and ordered three more to replace them. when I received the second batch two out of the three I had ordered were deflated, On closer inspection I found the corners had crimped over and broken the seal. I contacted support (you can not return food items through the automated system), and the live chat agent refunded me for the two damaged ones.
In conclusion, good value (at $5), but inspect carefully out of the box.
