Needs more set screws to stay put
Frozen BuilderAugust 11, 2017
Tried using it for load bearing, meaning shimming the ball mount upward. Set screws aren't strong enough to keep it in place there. Just gets worked out of the hole, and scrapes the paint off your hitch. Only good for 'top mount', and still needs frequent adjustment. Could really benefit from a set screw on all 4 corners
I had better hopes for this than it has provided

I had better hopes for this than it has provided. It DOES help reduce wobble a little but for the price it doesnt eliminate it. Its a little cumbersome to get this in place without pinching fingers, etc on the 2" shank as well.

I have tried the carrier on a multiple vehicles with this in place and get similar results.
Prepare for this

I had to drill holes for the set screws because this anti rattle product would work it's way out when i would haul my boat. Then the slop in the hitch is back. Also I see after six months of use hauling my small wells cargo trailer that the flat pieces of metal that go into the receiver are nearly rubbed in half and therefore the slop will be back.
Failure - Wouldn't even work on their own hitch receiver.

I purchased the GenY hitch receiver and love it. However this is my third other GenY purchase and like the second it is a failure. As you can see in the pic the shims are one on the top and one on the side. To tighten there own hitch in my receiver I need one that has a shim on both top and bottom not the side. Next attempt was to tighten my Smittybilt hitch step. This was a failure as well because the set screws are so short they would not go out long enough to pin to the step. Also this is made from aluminum so just the little bit of working with it already had scraps or shavings coming off of it. Enough was enough.... I sent it back.

GenY seems to make excellent receiver hitches... but they need to stay with them and leave the accessories up to companies who know that they are doing.
Didn't Fit, Too Tight, Wedge Too Thick
JoeyJoeJoeApril 4, 2016
Great concept, but it didn't fit. There was not enough clearance between the housing of the trailer hitch and the shaft of the trailer ball mount assembly. This prevented the ball mount from fully inserting into the hitch (just short of being able to align the holes to insert the locking pin. I even tried a bit more force with a small sledgehammer but to no avail. I was concerned that if I applied too much force that I'd never get the ball mount out or worse, that I'd split the housing on the hitch assembly.

I received this last-minute before our trip so I had to improvise by wrapping the ball mount assembly shaft with fiberglass tape, just enough to prevent the play and dampen the rattle noise. Worked perfectly.
