Wow!!! This stuff is amazing. Using it to restore some old machinist tools and tooling I inherited. IT obliterates light surface rust without damaging the surface. Heavier rust does take a bit more time and prep (removing scale, wire brush) but the results are astounding. I have used other products in the past, but Evaporust puts them to shame.

Up till now, I had primarily used vinegar and wire brushes to restore old rusty tools. But after using Evapo-Rust on some of the rustiest tools I could find, I'm sold on this stuff! It's better than white vinegar because it leaves the paint and is better at getting into all of the nooks and crannies. The rust just disappears. Vinegar does a good job and is less expensive initially. It will remove the rust and anything else that gets in the way eventually, but it tends to leave a rusty residue behind that needs cleaned off. It also smells up the place and it is an acid after all, so not always the best solution. Evapo-Rust doesn't leave behind a rusty residue. Its not an acid. Has no oder at all. Biodegradable. Easy clean up.

This worked great at cleaning up some old files and tools.
Just clean off oils first, then soak the tools in a bucket with the Evapo Rust.

Then clean off the residue with water, dry and spray with a rust inhibitor like Evapo-Rust RB015 Rust Inhibitor - 16 oz..

I soaked most of the files and tools for about a day, mostly because I forgot about them.
One file was in bad shape and I left it over the weekend and it came out pretty good.

Remember that this cant put back metal that's rusted away. It just removes the rust. So if something is pitted, you will be left with the pits, free of rust but still pitted.

I bought and used this for the first time to clean up a rusty lathe chuck that was given to me. This stuff was amazing. The chuck was full of grease, oil, and rust. The instructions clearly said to de-grease everything first which I failed to do. I soaked it overnight with the grease still on. The next morning the grease, oil, and rust had turned into a yellowish goo that wiped off. I then rubbed everything down with a scotch brite pad. Everything except two small areas with particularly thick amounts of oil and grease were completely rust free. I soaked it one more time for good measure and I was amazed how well it worked. You can even use it over and over again. I assume eventually the chemical reaction will stop after so many uses but I have not found that point yet.

had rust in a 35 year old gas tank, filled it up and sat it by a heater, 4 hours later it looked like new. Looks like I can get another 50 uses out of this stuff before it goes bad. I didn't get jack for my review.
