This is my first tow-behind spreader. Overall, I am happy with it but it would be helpful to include a cross-reference with Scotts spreader settings so I know what setting to use. I also had to build a lever extension because I can't reach the lever from the seat of my zero-turn mower. Overall, I was pleased with how it performed. I was concerned that it might tip over on slopes, but I was careful to not overload it and it was never a problem.

Seems very durable. Metal gears and all. But the handle can't be reached from the seat. At first, I opened the shoot and jumped on but the fertilizer left large dead spots on my lawn. So now my wife rides in back and operates the handle while I drive. They need to extend the handle to fix this. Otherwise, well built.

This spreader was very easy to assemble and is very sturdy. Mechanically the spreader is great. The only issue I have is that it is advertised as holding 125 lbs of fertilizer. You would be hard pressed to fit 70 lbs into the hopper. Yard Commander should change this advertisement to reflect the actual number of pounds this spreader will hold. That is the reason for the 4 Star rating.

Only negative is regarding the instructions. Its a bit like a blowout diagram so, you'll need to him in on the sections. I.e. isolate your eyes to the given section you're assembling (eating a elephant one bit at a time).

The assembly was straight forward, although, in my 70's, my fingers aren't as nimble as they used to be and getting some of the screws and nuts together was a little tricky for me. The spreader worked great and I like how the spreader is very sturdy. Should last a long time.
