Excellent sound quality. It states 280 watts but that is peak. I never judge a speaker by peak wattage nor should anyone. RMS would be around 140-180 on this unit. Although it may not sound like much, this Alto TX10 produces a loud and clear sound to match higher end 12" units. As far as bass. It's punchy but you will need a subwoofer and 2 of these for an all out function. This will be utilized for my backyard get togethers I am impressed with the Alto brand speakers. They really put their time, technology and effort into their products.
The Alto TX10, 10" version fits the bill for being affordable, light weight, small sized, and usable.

This review is for the TX10, 10" version. This is a fine, little, powered speaker that I got to use as a floor wedge. I won't lie and say it's the best thing ever. Does it sound as good or loud as a high-end JBL or EV speaker? No it doesn't. If you play in a hard rock or metal band, it won't be loud enough and will probably distort as you push the level. If you're DJ-ing and want to shake the house with bass... this ain't gonna do it. It's the wrong tool for those jobs. I used it for a roots rock band with two guitars, bass, drums, keys, vocals - and just used it for vocal monitoring in a small club and it was fine, sounded good. Plenty loud for my old ears with volume to spare and didn't take up much room on the floor. I purchased this for its affordability, light weight, small size, and usability. This fulfilled all these requirements so no regrets. I might buy a second one. Keep in mind that when running a line level into it, like from a mixer, the max level should be to straight up 12-noon. Pushing the knob beyond that will distort as that range is for when plugging in a microphone.

I said that I bought had a lot of electrical static coming from them so I returned I purchased them for a church they were too small need a bigger speakers unless you have something other then a church that you using them for or subwoofer to go along with them went with a bigger speaker and a different brand
8" model Great for what it is; if you need more bass buy the bigger one

i bought the 8" woofer model mostly to use as a portable DJ monitor. It's good for this, but what I really like is how small and light this is. It is lacking on the bass, but not lacking terrible. You can always EQ the bass up a bit, but then it won't play as loud.
However, compared to a Mackie SRM150 5.25-Inch Compact Active PA System, Black this is great. The Mackie is smaller, but has no bass or even mid bass. And costs twice as much. This is a much better alternative if you actually care about the sound. (The Mackie has a build in mixer and a variety of different audio connections while this one only has XLR in/out connections).
It's also adequate to provide background music at smaller events.
The biggest selling point for me however is the light weight and small size. The build quality seems solid as well.

Clipping LED ON at low power?
D. Schweitzer✓ Verified Purchase•February 20, 2018
The LED that indicates signal clipping is on when the speaker volume is only 1/4 of the way up (and the input signal is about half power). This is supposed to be a high powered speaker. Rather unhappy.
