Excellent chair base for a big guy like me

The box was very light so I was concerned it was going to be some cheap product. But, after opening the box I found it to be very tough and sturdy. It was wrapped extremely well. Getting the casters in was a little difficult but that is probably normal since this is aluminum not plastic. Once everything was installed it worked perfectly.
Arrived with paint chipped off. Fits fine.

For all of the great reviews (and the cost), I hadn't anticipated it would arrive damaged. The packaging seemed fine -- but upon removing the base from the box and foam, I found there are several good-sized spots where the paint is chipped off. Not worth the hassle of not having a chair, so I won't return.
Wheels fit fine (got some of the skate wheels, since I was making a change anyway). Only other interesting bit: It's much lighter-weight than I expected.
I think it'll serve me fine. Probably would not buy again, given the defects.

Metal [Chair] Gear Solid

It was a little difficult getting my old casters into this base, but, still 5-stars. Solid metal, including where the casters go into (probably why it was a bit rough, I probably should have used some WD-40 or something to get them in easier). This is the third base on my office chair - the chair is great, but the original base snapped at a caster point as did the replacement one from the manufacturer. The fact that this is solid metal gives me hope that it is built to last.

I have been using my desk chair to get around my apartment while awaiting foot surgery. Unfortunately, have to go over a bumpy threshold constanfly from room to room. Well, the plastic base, finally succumbed to the stress, and one wheel kept dropping out. This base is perfect. Unfortunately, it's a tad wider than the original, sometimes hit the boundaries of woodwork etc, bit a good product. I am not large, but if you are, this is a great choice for a new base for your desk chair. Well made!
Heavy Duty Office Chair Base

THIS is the base that all chairs should be made with. I had to pretty much rebuild my entire chair. The only original parts left are the seat, back, and tilt mechanism. I feel very confident in the longevity of my chair now. I believe that this base could last a decade or more. I would definitely recommend this base. Just make sure you use appropriate wheels/casters.
