Best things ever for shawl knitters
EllieG✓ Verified PurchaseJuly 13, 2023
I love these things. They work so well. I've used them on straight and curved edges and they're awesome for both. I've now purchased three sets of them and they have held up well. Getting them back in the box is almost impossible. I got a Rubbermaid food container and put them in it instead. The pins are sharp so be careful. If you knit with natural fibers especially shawls or scarves, these are a must.
Blocking Revolution!

These are a revolution! No more placing individual pins to block in straight lines, dealing with scalloped bumps on the edges of straight scarves... makes blocking just a little easier and less cumbersome. Love that they come in their own box for storage.

These don't replace straight pins completely - you'll need those for making those scallops when you do want them, like in lace knitting. But for straight projects like scarves, triangle scarfs, and especially QUILT BLOCKS AND GRANNY SQUARES, these are a dream. I specifically bought them to do log cabin squares which need to be perfect squares, 16x16 and these made them a breeze.

I might end up getting another set just to be sure I have enough for larger projects.
Lines don't match up

The blocks in this set fit together nicely and are easy to put together. They can be arranged to fit most hand crocheted items. I ordered an additional set to use with larger items like dresses. They are thick enough to insert the pins deep enough to hold your crocheted or knitted item in place. The pins are rust proof, which you definitely need for blocking. My only complaint is that the lines do not match up on all of the blocks. They are close, but not perfect.
but I do think these might provide a good blocking experience for a newer knitter

Purchased these to block a Churchmouse Bias Before and After Scarf. I have never used blocking wires, though have blocked with pins alone. These made for quick blocking. I have knit for a long time, but I do think these might provide a good blocking experience for a newer knitter. They may be more useful than wires for a variety of sizes of knit garments, etc., but I can't be sure. Would recommend as a definite step up from pins-alone in any case, and worth the $.
The BEST Blocking supply I have seen!!

I really love the way that these work!! I am new to the whole blocking thing because I never made any items that required it. I ordered this and when it came I was blown away by the storage packaging first off. It is a very sturdy plastic box, not flimsy at all which was what I was expecting. The box contains an instruction card (folded) and and 12 blocking squares that have 8 pins and 8 blocking squares that have 4 pins. The pins are secured in the box by a foam base so they don't move around.

Be advised the pins are sharp and if you aren't careful they will stick you. That being said, they worked very well to secure the shawl that I was making. There are plenty of them and unless your project is unusually bendy, you should have plenty!!

The blocking squares are made of a dense type of plastic that is also sturdy. The blockers have zero flexibility though so if you want to bend them a bit, I would suggest something else. The pins are rust resistant and stainless steel. I would advise making sure that the pins are dry before storing them away though. I have had these a while now and the only suggestion that I would have would be to have a set that is flexible to go around a curve.

For now though, I will continue to use these for Most project and my single blocking pins for the rest.

I hope this helps!!
