Broken straps....good instrument
Tami N.•September 23, 2017
This is a quality instrument. I would have rated higher but the straps for the case arrived broken.

For the price, this horn is very good. I am an adult who played trumpet when I was younger, and I always wanted a soprano trombone. Thought I'd just try this one out as it was the cheapest I could find. For my purposes, it's perfect - cheap and not total junk. It sounds fine for fooling around and having fun. I could even bring it to a rehearsal to show my friends and not be embarrassed of it. The slide is nice and smooth. Mine fits together just fine (someone else had a problem with Moz related to this).
The only problem is that there is no tuning slide, and it seems a little flat, or maybe just right on, to me This is a problem because you can't shorten it any more than it is, so while you can adjust on any of the other positions, you can't adjust when the slide is all the way in. I like to play with first position just a little bit out, and you can't do that if the horn is flat/right on. You could kindof use the joint where the two pieces fit together as a tuning spot, but you can only lengthen it that way and not by very much. I will try to find a shorter mouthpiece or something (I'm using my own old mouthpiece so far - haven't tried the one that came with it but it looks exactly like my 7c), or maybe there's something else I can try. Maybe I just play out of tune!
Still, I recommend this horn if you just want to try out a soprano trombone at a good price!
