Good addition to the Shield

I have tried a number of different accessories to get a better grip on my M&P Shield. I have to admit that my favorite was the Pachmayr Tactical Grip Glove because it provides a larger girth to the grip to fit my hand better plus the better non-slip surface. The problem with the Grip Glove is that it slips and doesn't stay in place. I tried a number of different things like tape and glue, but they just make a mess and they don't really hold the Grip Glove in place for very long. So after reading the positive reviews for these rubberized Talon grips, I decided to try it.
It installs very easily and is cut precisely to fit the Shield. A bit of time and repitition with a heat gun, and this grip "tape" is very securely installed on the Shield. I think it can be removed, but I would have to deliberately want to do that. The problem with the Talon grip is that it does not add much (really any appreciable) girth to the grip. As most Shield owners know, it's a skinny grip and takes some time getting use to it.
Anyway, as a lark, I put the Grip Glove over the Talon grip and lo and behold, the Grip Glove doesn't slip anymore. It does rotate slightly, but the big thing is that it no longer slips down to interfere with a magazine change. The small bit of rotation is easily adjusted, and that seems to be so slight that I only readjust it after a complete range session. This might be a waste to a lot of you, but I'm quite happy with this. Granted, the Talon Grip itself is a very good product and improves the ability to have a better purchase on the gun even with sweaty hands, so by itself it is well worth it. Like most have already reported, it is a good product and something I would recommend.

Excellent Grip once you sand it down slightly, stock Granulate-Black is a little too abrasive for me. After that, A+++

First thing to mention, for me, this grip (Granulate-Black) is too rough the way it comes out of the box when you get it. After I installed and held it in my hand it was literally painful to grip for more than 10-15 seconds. Not like it is severely painful, just uncomfortable after 20-30 seconds in my hand. So I sanded the grip down with normal sandpaper mid grit (300-600). I kept checking it after sanding for a few minutes being sure to take my time and make it evenly worn. Once I had it sanded to the smoothness vs. roughness I was looking for, it is an AMAZING grip. I feel I could have literal oil on my hands and would have no issues holding on to this gun during a roller coaster ride. (Not that I have done that, just wanted to point out how good the grip is).
Installation is a breeze, excellent instructions and A+ materials here. The next time out at the range with this Talon grip I improved my accuracy GREATLY! I was actually pretty surprised this made such a difference. I also added a set of TRUGLO fiber optic sights, so I am sure that helped also in my superior grouping of my shots and overall accuracy towards center dot. I have included a pic of the gun w/ sanded grips along with a target from my first trip to the range after adding this.
(Note, the picture below is BEFORE I sanded the grip. I will try to get a pic of the finished sanded grip soon.)

GRIPPING IS GOOD

I purchased the Talon granulated grips to see how effective they were on polymer frame firearms. Here are my first impressions:
"¢ The extended magazine strip does not come with the new version "“ they must be purchased separately.
"¢ Only one alcohol pad is included (some online videos show two included).
"¢ Clean your frame very good "“ I used my wife's isopropyl alcohol to rewet the single alcohol pad and really dowsed it.
"¢ I'd seen many reviews and videos of installation "“ and many stated the ends of the grip did not hold adequately. I only touched the sticky side in one place and manipulated the backing paper so I would not have to touch the glue side (thinking the adhesion qualities are diminished due to finger contact).
"¢ I heated the grip numerous times, even some the next day, to ensure good adhesion.
"¢ The left side aligned perfectly, but after wrapping around the handle, the right side did not match the S&W medallion as did the left side. I think I may not have had it as perfect as I did the left side. I did not pull or force the grip as per the instructions.
Time will tell if the review goes down - depends on how long they hold up on the firearm.

... ones - but once they were on I was like ' HEY-this is pretty nice

I wasn't paying attention and ordered the sandpaper type grips instead of the rubber ones - but once they were on I was like ' HEY-this is pretty nice! Get the rubber ones if you are going to have the grips against your bare skin - and they can catch on cotton clothes. But really - these were so easy to install myself and my hair dryer was enough. They haven't started coming off anywhere - almost look like they are part of the original. I'm sure I'll get the rubber ones form my little M&P .22 - but I'm happy with this, (Posted by the wife - wife's gun).
Look no further - the perfect grip

Absolutely LOVE the Talon Grips! Previous grips added more bulk and could move out of place or stretch. These, however, do not! Very low profile so it does not interfere with going in and out of holsters, both open carry and concealed. They also blend right into the gun and are very streamline. Once the grips are installed, they look as if they were manufactured onto the gun, not something added onto it. The texture is exactly what you want in a grip- rough enough to give your hand traction even if slightly wet, yet not so rough it feels like you will start bleeding when you fire the gun or move your hand on it.
Installation was straight forward and easy. One piece was not placed correctly (operator error, not a product flaw) and was fine being peeled back up and moved- it has stayed in place like all the other pieces. I will be getting these grips for all my guns.
