No use at all for a beginner. It doesn't work well at all. The air flow is too restrictive and it's nearly impossible to vary any octaves.Even my experienced tutor gave it back to me after trying it out.

I didn't get on with this. It does quiet down the mouthpiece, but with very hard back-pressure that makes it feel totally different. Easier to make a fist in front of the mouthpiece and modulate the noise that way.
