Considerable Issue with landing clearance
OverwatchAugust 13, 2017
Man does this product suck. I have 8 drones, from dji Inspire to Yuneec Typhoon H Pro and bought a dji p2 for fun and to train with, but this mount is static, and just as ridiculous as the GoPro battery life, it also requires landing strut extensions because the mount, in its usable position, extends below the stock dji p2-4 landing struts. This is the kind of product that takes too much work to get a good shot. Not worth having even if it was free.
Wobbles, key screw wrong diameter
Frank MellottJune 28, 2017
At the key spot where the camera holder side mounts to the vibration dampener side, the screw holes are larger diameter than the screw that holds them together (see photo). Net result is no matter how tight you get this screw, it wobbles. Tolerances at this key component need to be much tighter.
If your buying for Syma please read.

Ok I don't love it... but I like it. Here is why...

I bought this for my Syma x8c. The factory camera is garbage so I wanted to mount my SJ5000x to get some cooler shots. Well after rigging up something I noticed a lot of Jello. The reviews on this seemed ok enough to give it a shot. I'm glad I did. Flying my RC drone has been so much more fun getting better footage. I wouldn't call this a gimbal though. this is more like an anti jello housing.

Pros: You get little to no jello. There are no instructions for this, but it does fit will with the Syma quads with a little drilling and trial and error.
It is light weight so I have only noticed a reduction of about 2 minutes of flight time. (flights are about 8-10 mins...getting 10-12 mins with anti jello but no camera mounted). Seems durable, it has lasted many ... many ... many crash landings.

Cons: the little shield that holds the camera in place doesn't work with the SJ5000. I think this is made for the go pro as it is just a couple mm too small. I have to use rubber bands to hold the camera in place with the lens at dead center. Still gets the job done. I think longer screws will do the trick but haven't tried. Takes some moding to get it mounted to the Syma quad. Almost touches the ground with factory landing gear. There are no instructions what so ever. I did find a tutorial on youtube. Didn't follow to the T, but was a tremendous help.

If you are using a Syma quad there is an Anti jello with the same design that mounts into the original camera spot with no modifications and comes with a little case that fits the SJCam 4000. It just doesn't record at dead center so you will get landing gear in the shot and will have to crop it out later. Id say save your money and get a $54 brushless motor gimbal.

I will add photos and footage soon
A decent mount - works well, but not exactly as pictured.

I ordered this to install a camera on my Phantom 2. It works, but there are a few reasons why I gave it four stars instead of 4 or 5. For one thing, the item I received is not as pictured.

The photos show two identical plates for the top and bottom. Instead, mine has one of the plates pictured and another solid plate with a lot of holes in it. Unfortunately, this plate even though it has a bunch of holes, does not have 4 that line up with the mounting holes on the bottom of the Phantom 2. The other plate, like the ones pictured here, does however have matching holes, so I had to mount it to the quad and use the solid plate on the bottom. The plate I have on the bottom now does not have the slots pictured here, which could come in handy for strapping a camera to the plate if you wanted to.

The second thing is, the plastic tightening screw is hard to get tight enough to hold the camera at the correct angle, and once you do it is hard to get loosened up. I subbed a little bit heavier screw that i had that has a knurled knob on the end that allows it to be adequately tightened, but is still easy to loosen.

Other than these things, the mount works well, and does what it needs to do. Video shot with the mount on my Phantom 2 are extremely steady with no jello or vibration. Be aware though that this depends a lot on the quadcopter and prop balance...if you have a lot of vibrations, this mount or any other one cannot eliminate them all.

One plus is that it comes with a complete set of hardware, (screws, nuts, etc.) to mount it to your quad, even though they are not shown in the ad listing. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with it for now.
Perfect cushioned, anti-vibration mount for nearly any quadcopter.
Mikel R. BerryAugust 9, 2016
Okay, first, I wouldn't call this a gimbal. It's a cushioned, anti-vibration, adjustable camera mount. The word 'gimbal' leads one to believe that it has the ability to tilt and dip, to keep the camera steady. This one has no movement at all. It's fixed in one position during flight. You can adjust the downward tilt of the camera, before you take off. Which is good for getting more than just the straight ahead shots that most stock cameras get. I knew what this was when I ordered it. It's exactly what I wanted. And, it works perfectly. It comes with plenty of nuts and bolts. But, you will have to figure out how to mount it to your quad with your own hardware. None of the hardware that comes with it is appropriate for mounting. I suppose that's because there are so many different ways to mount it, they couldn't include hardware for every possible scenario. This camera mount is well designed and well built out of quality materials. I'm very pleased with this purchase.
