I'm a prick when it comes to maintenance of expensive stuff. Here in New York it can get mighty cold. Home heating oil gets waxy and thickens when cold. If you have an outdoor tank this stuff will keep your filter free of paraffin (wax). Ever have to have your fuel line blown out? That's where the service guy blows compressed air back thru your line into the tank. That's cuz it got clogged with wax or debris. I get it from a plumbing supply store. I put 2 bottles into every fill up (200+ gallons) and haven't had to call for service in 3 winters. This stuff works!

We had our Boiler Man out to unfreeze our Boiler 2 years in a row. He used this stuff. This year he told us to start
adding a 1/2 bottle to our tank at every fill up of fuel oil, to prevent our oil from jelling at the nozzle. This is cheaper than paying the boiler guy, that's for sure.
