An Accurate, Versatile Battery Tester
Richard Kenyada•October 14, 2017
I purchase batteries in bulk. And while I don't test each battery for freshness, I think it's important to test at least 2 or 3 in a new pack. The Amprobe BAT-250 does a great job in testing every different type of battery I have for various tools and gadgets. It's the Swiss Army Knife of battery testers in one compact, easy-to-operate device. Its bright red color ensures that it won't get lost at the bottom of my tool chest. It belongs in every kitchen "junk drawer" in America. And I really like its colorful, easy to read dial. Highly recommended.
inexpensive tester

I now own two of these. I am a school principal and it seems we go through a lot of alkaline batteries. My secretary uses it if a teacher claims a battery is dead. Occasionally we have a clock that eats up batteries or needs a battery at newly full-strength to work properly. We either replace the clock or buy lithium batteries for that one. We can still use the alkaline in another clock or LED flashlight.
Not as specific as I would like.

Won't read my button batteries. I'm not sure what the minimum voltage needs to be but my hearing aid batteries don't even register. When testing 9v batteries I have found that when the batteries even get close to the yellow area they are done. Not as specific as I would like.
works well with all kinds of batteries

I bought this to replace a "pass/fail" type of meter. I wanted something that would show me how the relative strength of a batter so I could see how close to failure it was. This works great. I've used it on C, D, A, AA, and button batteries.
My Choice. Easiest and fastest to use.

The battery testers listed on Amazon`were so inexpensive I bought a variety of them. This one was the easiest to use. It has a groove on the side so the battery doesn't fall out while
you're trying to clamp the tester contacts on the battery. The digital displays on some of the testers are overkill because all you need to know is: does the battery pass or fail?. This one is my choice. I had no way of checking the accuracy of the tester however as a pass/fail tester it seems to work fine.
