Purchased this to sand down my old furniture and restain them. Such a daunting task to sand it down by hand.
My gosh, this machine made sanding down the furniture so EASY!!!!!!!! I was done with the entire dresser, drawers, and two bedside tables, in only a few hours.

Please wear appropriate protective equipment such as a mask for your face when using this. Even if I poked holes in the sandpaper, dust still flies around. Also work in a well ventilated area. I worked in my garage and EVERYTHING was covered in dust. This didn't bother me because I was cleaning the garage out anyways to get the floor epoxy done so I knew the dust would be gone soon anyway.

Also, maybe take breaks to stretch your hands once in a while during using this. The intense vibration of the machine left my hand feeling buzzy for the rest of the day, and the next day my hand and arm still felt like they needed constant stretching.

One of the best things about this is that just pushing down starts it up. I'm telling you, I wish I had purchased this five years ago when I was doing my kitchen cabinets. This thing is a lifesaver!
it does a fine job

I bought this sander after trying to hand sand an old cabinet (the 1 drawer took me 4 hours to do)and well didnt want to do that anymore!! So I started sanding with it yesterday and it went well(sometimes I poked holes in the sand paper and sometimes I didnt) The one time I didnt the sander got very hot and the pad melted to the sand paper which made a very hot glue like residue in this one spot!! I changed the paper (made holes) and went back over that spot which came out fine! However the pad is now partically ruined!! Over all this small inexpensive sander is doing the job I expected it to. In less than half the time it took me to hand sand the one drawer, I did both cabinet doors!! ALSO worth noting is the vibration which gets to your hands after a while (mine were numb for about an hour afterwards)
Stout. Impressed with this unit

Normally black and decker isn't high on my tool wishlist if even at all. I have tools from brands that carry a higher premium and respect. That said, this little sander delivered. It has a good weight to it and the push down to turn on feature was surprisingly useful.

The clamps for attaching paper are very easy to operate and that's the main reason I replaced another brands sander with this one.

Only thing that would have made this nicer would have been a case but at this price point that's a luxury.
Better than expected. Not a "last forever" tool, but it should do the job for the occasional DIYer.

Normally I'm kind of a tool snob. I had a bunch of B&D stuff as a youngster and it was, without exception, junk. Nowadays I lean toward Makita, Milwaukee, Bosch, and so on. I have two random orbit sanders and they meet most of my needs. But I had a job where I wanted a standard palm sander but didn't think I'd use it much. I was about to go so cheap as Harbor Freight (though in fact this was cheaper than their 1/4 sheet sander), but I didn't want to spend too much, either. I stumbled across this one, checked the stellar reviews, and decided to take a flyer.

And I'm not disappointed. It sands well. Isn't too noise, and the dust collection works well. Will it stand of to years of use? The build quality tells me no (the sandpaper attachment system isn't long for this world IMHO. But for the price I paid (sixteen bucks) and for my expected usage? It's a bargain. Four stars.
Ok, cheap, will do what you need. Don't expect miracles.

This machine is ok, cheap and will do, but could be better.

Loading "hand cut" sheets requires both hands and it can get annoying if you don't carefully cut them, I can't believe there isn't a better mechanism for this.

The "vacuum" thing works, but don't expect it to be a DYSON / MIELLE vacuum cleaner :)

It's noisy as _FROG_"¦ like REALLY noisy.

The controls (to lock/on/off) are nice, but not easy to operate with one hand, very easy to accidentally trigger it.

All in all, it will likely be ok for what you need, but if you pretend to professionally use this every day, I'm sure spending a little bit more will do. For hobbyists and what not, it's ok and will save you time; it will almost always be faster than hand-sanding.
