I put marbles in the bottom then I either put a candle in or a stick of incense. Having cats around I opted for a measure of safety.

This vase is beautiful and looks really nice. I agree with other reviews...arrives very dusty / dirty. But cleans up easily. If giving as a gift I'd open, clean and then package back up. It was perfect for the look I was going for with dried eucalyptus but large enough to fit dozen or more roses. Highly recommend.
