Spend a minute on the manual for the mode button.

Gives fast, accurate pin readings and is a quality instrument with a surprisingly low price. I think the occasional poor review may be due to unfamiliarity with the mode button. I was in that frame of mind until I read the little manual. The mode button is of little use to me so now I just make sure the mode I choose is the little flag view in the lens.

I purchased this product in March, 2016. I play golf 2-3 times per week and the performance of this rangefinder was comparable or superior to other, more expensive devices. In December 2017 elements in the LCD display began to fail and the numbers were difficult to discern. Couldn't tell in the pin was 158 yards or 183 yards. I contacted the company and they suggested some remedial steps that did not work. I recontacted the company in February 2018. They indicated that my one year warranty had expired. After further discussion, they offered to extend the warranty for an additional year (March 2018) however, I would be responsible for shipping my device back to the company. No big deal. UPS store packaged and shipped the product to TecTec for $13.00. I provided TecTec with my UPS tracking number late on a Wednesday afternoon. Friday morning, I opened my front door to get my newspaper and my new rangefinder was on my porch. Shiny, new VPRO500. On the course, the device seemed to have improved in it's ability to read the flagstick and give a yardage reading more quickly than my previous device. Great product, great service.

My previous rangefinder was a Bushnell and it began to use up batteries like crazy. So I've now gone a few years without a rangefinder, only because my wife got a golf watch and that seemed to be good enough. However, now that we playing golf courses we are unfamiliar with, her watch falls short on telling us the distance of obstacles in the distance. Which leads me to the purchase of this well priced item. The item is definitely made of cheaper outer materials than my Bushnell, but I do not plan on taking this to the prom....so who cares. I do like the pin seeking technology. You hold the button down and scan from left to right across the pin. This should help speed up the process of getting the distance of flagsticks while out golfing. Additionally, changing the mode from meters to yards was very simple. TecTecTec sent me an email prior to delivery which covered that process. "Hold the mode button down for 3 seconds and BAM, changed". It was just that easy.

I lost my Leupold range finder and bought this one because it was half the price. It does everything the Leupold did and does it just as well. A friend of mine, after using this one, bought one and he still has his Leupold. The range finder has been in my bag for a couple of months and it has had hard use. I shove it into cup holders, pockets, cubbies without babying it. The plastic case shows the scars but the range finder is flawless. One tip I learned is that it is easier to shoot to the left of the pin and smoothly sweep to the right until the reading pops up. It is much easier than trying to nail the reflector. Use the flagstick mode for this. Scan mode is used for targets to lay up. I rarely need it but it does work.
I think that this range finder is a good buy. Not expensive, reliable, durable and rugged.

It is easy to use and seems to be very accurate. I especially like the scanning function where you can move it and get constant measurements as you zero in on the target. Company is incredibly helpful too. I highly recommend this product and the company.
