I would not buy again

Do not buy! I minse tons of garlic and I have been looking for a well priced garlic press. I used this a few times, and it broke. I am not the strongest person in the world, and after just a few uses the attachment broke and I was just left with the rubber piece to peel the garlic. The rubber peeler does not really work either.
ADVICE: Spend the extra $10-$15 and get a garlic press with higher ratings, or order something off william sonoma.

Don't try to use it for ginger!

When I bought this I did quite a bit of comparison shopping. I concluded this was the best choice. I don't use it terribly often. I've maybe used it ten times. It only holds very small pieces and as someone else said, the handles hit each other before reaching the bottom of the basket, resulting in rather thick untouched slices at the bottom of the basket.
Last night I was making a recipe that called for both minced garlic and minced ginger. I certainly didn't think that this mincer would be inappropriate for mincing ginger, but I was wrong. Trying to mince one small piece of ginger, one of the handles broke. The stainless outer part was fine, but the plastic section inside, which holds the two pieces of each handle together, snapped completely in half. I pushed it back together and tried to continue with garlic instead of ginger, but the mechanism for holding the basket was now out of place and nothing I could do would make it line up right again.
It certainly looks nice, the price is very good (now half of what I paid) and the description makes it sound nice, but this mincer is not sturdy and doesn't do a good job. Luckily, the silicone sleeve for removing the skin is intact. It's a very clever tool.

Absolutely not fit to be sold.

Bought this in late 2015.
Worked OK the first few times I used it - but then the plunger no longer fits into the basket into which one places the garlic. No amount of bending (the basket) will make this work. When my wife tried to force it - we got metal shavings in with the garlic. This is an appallingly constructed device, unsafe, and should be withdrawn from the market. Don't buy it - the positive reviews must be from people who have only recently purchased it.

Effective and sturdy garlic press

I like this Basily garlic press because it works very well, easily comes apart for cleaning, and is made from stainless steel heavy enough that it would be difficult to damage. You would more likely have to replace it because you lost it rather than because you damaged it.
Nope

Worked the first time. After that the plunger didnt fit into the metal cup area. If I was lucky enough to force it in there it only pushes 1/8th of the garlic clove through the holes, wasting a lot of garlic and you still get your hands dirty and smelly from unclogging it.
