Almost a great product, just needs wifi for controlling the lights
Steve Birchfield✓ Verified Purchase•October 21, 2023
I bought the kit to put in my bathroom shower light and tub light. I thought it would be great to have sound there with bluetooth. The lighting component is bright and warm. It comes with an extension cap to make it fit a 65 watt can light. I added that and put it in. It goes in like any other light bulb. It was much brighter than the traditional 65 watt it replaced. As a light it functions as expected. The one caveat to that is the app only works with Alexa or the Sengled app. I have all Google Home and Nest devices. I have to control it with my phone app. That works but it's not ideal. I wanted to buy 4 for my living room and control them through the Google home voice commands. Since that's not possible I am holding off buying more. It also requires a separate audio to bluetooth adapter to work with the TV. Sengled sells one but it is $49. I may try one of the cheaper alternatives out there first at half the price.
As far as the speaker functions, the Sengled has a decent speaker and the sound is ok. The problem you run into (or could run into) is that they are playing from within a can up in the ceiling. It sounds like it is in a tin can. When I am standing in the shower it is better but outside of being directly under the light, it sounds distorted. I was hoping that the sound would project more out of the front and less from the sides. This is still at least a solution. The preset EQ settings allow you to adjust but they seem to be either all highs and no bass or too much bass and mid range for the placement. I may move the lights to a different room to see if they improve any. Again, the lack of voice control from Google Home or at least wifi is a big issue for me. I was hoping that because they are bluetooth that the lack of Google Home integration wasn't going to be an issue. But I feel that you need to control the lights and sound and while I can control the sound via my phone through bluetooth, the lights are still in need of controlling.
The last issues I would mention is that you don't want to put this on anything with a dimmer switch. You will need it to be up (for me 100% wouldn't work but about half way it would turn on but that might be my satellite pairing issue with less than 100% power) to have it work. I also tried having mine on 2 different light switches and the second one only worked once correctly. Maybe it's the dimmer, maybe it's the lack of pairing them on the same switch, but the satellite speaker doesn't work again. I get it to light up but the sound doesn't work. It did at first but does not now. I wanted to be able to have one speaker work all the time and use the second one when needed. That doesn't seem to be a scenario that works very well.
If they would add Google home integration for the lights it would be a much better product. The lights work great but require the phone app (that doesn't support Android 10 by the way) to be useful. This is fine for a room where you really don't need to control the lights but the speakers seem to need the app more than I would like too. If I put them in my living room I want to be able to dim the lights by routine or voice. I want anyone in the room to be able to control them and not just the ones with the app. It's hard to recommend these yet. I feel like they need some work to improve the software support before it would be a recommended purchase. For the price they are a good value but with the few improvements they could be the top product for this space. They seem to be a hardware company that doesn't know how to develop software to support their products.
EDIT: After moving them both to the same socket, I do get stereo sound and they both connect consistently. I realize the real issue is they don't have wifi capabilities and only bluetooth. If they had wifi I could control the lights without having to be connected with sound through bluetooth. I would pay double for that additional feature. It would be nice to connect with bluetooth to stream music but I want to control the lights separate from the sound. This is the real downfall of this product. Maybe they will add wifi to future models. Otherwise, I am connected all the time to control the lights but my sounds come through the speakers, If I were in a one room loft this would be ok but in a house it really isn't practical.

Wow! Awesome product!

Wow! This is an awesome product; worth the money. Easy to install, worked immediately in my can lights; the Pulse lights are indistinguishable from ordinary light bulbs. I was worried that the light quality would be cold, but it is warm. The app is easy to use and dims the bulbs from 100 to 0. So, the light switch needs to be on for the music to play, but via the app you can turn the light source off. The master bulbs switch needs to be on for the system to work, but you can turn other satellite bulb light switches on and off to control if music is on in certain rooms. (I can have the master and satellite bulbs on in my living room, but turn off the switches in my dining room to have that room be silent.)
Just to clarify how this system works (I was a bit confused): I bought the PULSE master and satellite starter kit, then added additional Pulse satellite bulbs to get music in multiple rooms on the same floor of my house. You can have 7 bulbs linked with the master.
I initially bought the solo pro, which does not connect to other bulbs. This would be ideal if one may just want one bulb in one room, like your teenager's room or in your bathroom.
I hope this helps, this was only clear to me after consulting the chart distinguishing the differences between the various bulbs.
I use I Heart Radio and Sirius XM radio apps to play my favorite jams. This is going to make life better.
One last thing: while I was playing music, my husband happened to turn the TV on in the same room. He used a WiFi remote, and the music quality got grainy. But, when we aren't using them simultaneously, it's not an issue.
Really awesome product!

Dance Party in My Kitchen

We've installed one master and three satellite Pulse LED bulbs in our kitchen. The sound is pretty good "“ similar to any portable Bluetooth speaker. We started out with just the master and one satellite, and I feel like the two additional satellites we added really helped round out the sound and make it richer.
The bulbs are the same diameter across as the E26 bulbs we previously had in those recessed fixtures, but the Pulse bulbs are slightly longer, so they aren't flush with the ceiling. They hang down about 1/2 an inch lower than our standard bulbs, but I don't think anyone will notice unless they're looking for it. The color is almost identical to the "soft white" led bulbs we were already using and matches the four that still remain in that room.
The system was easy to set up and connect to an iPhone. We haven't had any problems with pairing or had to make any updates/changes/resets in the month we've had them. The only (minor) annoyance is that the bulbs play a short, audible tune when you first turn on the lights and they re-connect to the network. It's not a big deal, but the sound does carry to nearby bedrooms, so everyone hears if someone turns on the kitchen light in the middle of the night or early morning. It's not enough to make us stop using them, though. We're having too much fun having impromptu dance parties.

The light color is basically identical. 2) The top image shows the standard bulb flush with ceiling, bottom image shows how far the Pulse bulb hangs down. 3) Photo showing the height difference between the Pulse bulb (left) and standard bulb (right).

Gimmicky, but worth the sale price

Bought these on a whim as they were on sale super cheap (discontinued?). They are easy to setup with the app on my phone and the Bluetooth signal is strong enough to control them from a separate room. I then paired them to an Amazon Echo Dot so I could use the voice control. The big downside to pairing them with the Dot is that it is not capable of adjusting the lights. So to adjust the lights you first have to unpair the Dot, re-pair with the phone, adjust the lights in the app, then re-pair with the Dot. If you could control the lights through Alexa and the Dot, these would be terrific. For music, they work great paired with the Dot. The sound quality is decent with two speakers, although they don't get very loud. They don't have much bass at all which is to be expected for such a small speaker. At full price they can't compete with a similarly priced Bluetooth speaker, but on sale, for a small room they are a neat gimmick.
Just buy them

The reviews on these is a mixed bag but my own experience has been extremely favorable . I installed 7 of them along w the pulse amp in a basement w a 7 foot ceiling and carpeted floors to serve a an audio source for my home theater as well as lighting and they have worked like a charm and being able to control from my phone via the app is a bonus . If I had to be critical of one area it would be setup only because I am unable to scan the needed code on each bulb and the print is very small . Lastly the configuration I just mentioned can now be had for 100 dollars or less , I challenge any home theater setup at that price that is totally stealth w lighting . Kudos Sengled , I have also purchased these for friends and they concur .
