Overall, this has the potential to be a great food cart and could provide hours and hours of fun for children. However, the see-though sliding doors on the top of the food compartment are defective in the cart we received. That part was somewhat bent/swayed/warped, so the see-through sliding doors are stuck and cannot be opened. Unfortunately, the return window on this product was only a month from delivery. We purchased it ahead of time and by the time we went to put it together and noticed the defect, the return window had closed. So, we proceeded with putting it together, but the see-through sliding doors now cause frustration to the child user.
The cart is poor quality in my opinion

I received the box that was already damaged! So, with that being said, i could have received a returned item. The cart is poor quality in my opinion, the decorative silver strip is falling off, the sign is very flimsy and also is coming off by a slight touch. The food items overall appear to be good quality. My daughter loves playing with it and it's very cute, but I expected much better quality from Melissa and Doug for the full price that I paid! Thanks to the great customer service at Amazon I was able to receive an allowance for damaged item, which made this purchase a little more justifiable to keep. I would not recommend this item, unless it's on sale. The regular price is too high for the poor quality.

Absolutely love this play cart!! M&D products are always trustworthy and sturdy, no cheap wood or plastic parts here, all items are made with precision. We had seen this at a toy store locally, but the price tag was $250 and well out of our wallet reach. When shopping for a Christmas gift for our 3-yo daughter who loves playing with play food/kitchens, we came upon this on Amazon and at more than half-off.
Cart was fairly easy to put together, took about 1.5 hours at midnight on Christmas Eve (!!). My daughter loves it, she "scoops" the ice cream cones and serves the popsicles and rings the bell when it's ready to serve. It's on the heavy side, so pushing this cart around the house may require adult help, just have to make sure you follow the instructions and loosen the wheels so they roll freely. Only "gripe" I had was one of the large screws did not have grooves for the screwdriver, so I needed a pair of pliers to twist it into the pre-drilled holes. Otherwise, this was easy to put together, just have to follow the instructions carefully.
I highly recommend this for any parent whose child(ren) are into play foods. This will provide hours of pretend play time.

Disappointing packaging

I made six phone calls to Melissa and Doug about this product. My first order arrived without the nuts and bolts needed to put this together and one piece of the cart missing. I reordered the product and the second order came minus the nuts and bolts, the directions and the missing part. The women who took my phone calls at the 800 number were helpful and gracious. However, there is definitely something wrong in the packaging department. It had taken three days to get all the parts and I am not sure if that will happen. For $138.00 dollars I would expect mor.
I would like to write an apology to Melissa and Doug because they not only tried to remedy the situation but went above and beyond in satisfying this customer. If anyone is looking for a great Christmas gift for their girls, this would be it. My granddaughters love it and love serving from it.

Great imaginative play for kids of different ages; high quality

My two kids, age almost 2 and 6, absolutely love this. It had to stay in our living room for two weeks because that's where I put it together and they played with it so constantly from the moment it was done there wasn't time to move it to the play room. Its easy to switch from Hot Dog Cart to Ice Cream shop. The accessories are great quality and are really cute. They totally remind me of ice cream truck treats from when I was little. The ice cream sandwiches and cookies are all interchangeable. My almost 2 year old is not gentle yet with toys and this has held up to him. Its also been a great math teaching tool for my 6 year old. The sign is a dry erase and let's them decide on the prices for each product. We've done math work with adding up our purchases. It was fairly simple to put together; took about a hour. Everything you need is included.
