Great learning experience

Bought this for my 8 year old grandson. He absolutely loves making all the different circuits that make noise, light up or move a fan. Easy to follow instructions. Easy to assemble and take apart.

I've always wanted these when I was a child. They sold a crude version of this at Radio Shack.

This is much more sturdier and easier to use than the old 1980's version. There are quite a few fun projects. Kids today are not very interested in basic electronics. If your kids are into video game and tablet apps, then chances are they won't be playing this this kit more than a day or two before losing interest.

It's a great product. I wish kids today could enjoy things like this more often. This would have been a hot seller 25 years ago.

Wow, the grandkids loved it right from the start! This is a great learning tool for the 8+ yr old prospective engineers and scientists.
A couple caveats:
I recommend to first pick out a simple project from the many exercises, then go over what results to expect. This pays off later, when it successfully happens. They will be excited, feel empowered, and ready to move on to the more sophisticated experiments.
Careful checking of your work is important with any electronics before applying power. So you may need to restrain their initial enthusiasm to simply dive in by popping pieces into place on the breadboard as fast as possible and without careful placement immediately following project assembly (based on the pictorials). It is important to teach the importance of first checking their work against the project drawings--line by line and component by component (along with correct polarity), BEFORE connecting the batteries. If you don't, you may end up with burned out transistors and other modules.
This isn't complex; it's just teaching kids to be methodical; to always carefully check their work before powering up. This is how to get happy results and encourage more experimentation.

Got this as a birthday present for a child in my son's third grade class. His parents have already ordered a second set and it has only been a week. We have them at home and my kiddos love them. The instructions are easy to follow and the kids get a good sense of accomplishment when the project comes together. It is also nice that you can reconfigure the set in several ways to reinforce the circuitry lessons and the toy doesn't get old too fast. With many different uses, you get your money's worth out of the product.
