I've had this tool for over a year now and feel like I have used it enough to write an honest review. The sander has plenty of power and feels good in my hand. I can't complain at all about anything. I have learned that better, more expensive sandpapers do a much better job than generic or Ace Hardware brand sanding discs. I would be sure to buy higher quality sandpapers.
Bosch and Dewalt both offer similar sanders for $10-$20 more. Ryobi being a home owner's brand you may be tempted to opt for the better name brands but I can't find anything wrong with this little Ryobi.

Decent sander, but not brilliant

This sander does a decent job and the dust extraction is decent, however there are a few things I don't like about it
1. it's tall. really tall compared to other RO. As long as you are using two hands, this isn't a big deal, but it's harder to control single handed. which leads me to...
2. the button is RIDICULOUS. why, why why did they put a button right where your index finger bumps it (as it does when you're working in tight areas and shuts the sander off. I much prefer my dewalt and my porter cable with a tiny button at the front that's recessed so you don't bump it automatically. Standing on a 40' ladder with this thing that shuts off when bumped is really annoying. The button is my major complaint about this and the reason I rate it low. I've used festool, makita, dewalt, porter cable, etc so I guess my bar is high...
My dust extractor hose plugs right in, though on the inside of the dust port, which is a bit weird and I'm afraid the dust port might eventually crack.

Really happy with this sander

This sander just can't be beat for the price,
I needed something to use around the house to sand down wooden plugs from the kreg jig I was using. Comes with three sanding disks (80, 120 and 220) to help get you started.
It's vuukt solid and has a good vibration. no bogging down, even of you add a lot of pressure to it. The dust collection bag even works great on this.
For the price, this just can't be beat. I am extremely happy with this
p.s. this is a Velcro stick pad, not an adhesive pad.

... sander that was this exact make and model and loved it so I bought my own

I used my friends sander that was this exact make and model and loved it so I bought my own. I use the Velcro pads and can get quite a bit of sanding done before replacing the pads. Works extremely well for any sanding job. Can't get into corners very well but I'm ok with that and just hand sand the corners. (I need to find a sander to corners)
Update: I just tried to use it, and I'm not sure if mine is just a dud but this one that I bought on Amazon does not spin as fast my friend's sander did. I can put my hand on it, and it does nothing. I'm thinking mine is broken... I accidentally cut my hand sanding with my friends, but there's no way I can do that with this one. Is mine broken?
