Arrived Well-Packaged and Ripe

This is my husband's favorite fruit, and very hard to get outside the Tropics. The Rambutans arrived on time, well-packaged with an ice pack to keep them fresh. A few were over-ripe, but I know how hard it is to source them. These don't grown anywhere outside the Tropics, so they have to be specially flown in, take about a week to ripen, add to that travel time and delivery time and I have to admit, I'm very pleased with this product.

Rambutans are like lychees, but much more satisfying as they have a lot more flesh than lychees. Having had A LOT of Rambutans in Asia over my childhood, these really take me back. Unfortunately, I can't get my Tropical favorite fruit anywhere in the States, Mangosteen are impossible to come by! This is a close second. As with any groceries, they're a little smushed, a little ripe, and mostly perfect! I'm very glad I was able to get a little bit of our childhood back in the States, it was completely worth $35.

Our family just returned from visit to Sri Lanka, and were amazed when I served this fabulous fruit to them. What a delight!
Overall great choice

The fruits were much bigger than the ones I had eaten years ago. The package weighed 1lb 15oz and they packed as many in the box as would fit. Tasted great. There was at least one bad one, though, right off the bat, and several more were over the edge before we were able to eat them all. It turns out that 2 lbs is a lot of rambutans.
One of my Asian friends really got excited.

The rambutans came in fresh. I made them Christmas gifts for the family and friends. I really love this fruit. I looked at them like they were aliens when I first tried one at my former job at Bellagio. Ever since then, I was hooked! I dare you to find them fresher and cheaper. By the way, the friend that I mentioned is part owner at a sushi restaurant in a fairly remote part of Texas, and she hadn't had any since living on a Japanese island. Her family was poor and she had never eaten them this fresh! She hadn't seen any in decades. Of course, none of my family knew what they were or how sweet and simple they were to get to the meat. I'm sure I'll buy them again. They really class up a fruit bowl and are a great conversation starter!
What a treat!

Ordered these as part of a presentation on Malaysia as this fruit had left a very positive impression on me during my visit. We gave these to 4th graders who were equally impressed with the exterior soft spikes and the juicy center. The fruits arrived in good condition, just slightly bruised. The kept well in the fridge in a single-double layer covered with a damp paper towel. I had also rinsed in a vinegar-water (1:10 parts) solution to be sure to inhibit any mold (like I do with berries). They kept from Saturday when they arrived to Thursday with minimal browning. I ordered 4 pounds and had plenty of fruits for the 40 kids. I think there were about 55 - 60 fruits all together. It was a fantastic treat and the kids were requesting we bring them again for the Halloween party! I'm sure they'll remember the presentation for a long time.
