Last year, during the potential zombie apocalypse of the covid pandemic I worked on restoring my old 1984 McKee Craft boat and used these speakers to replace some inferior ones that somebody else installed. I figured I needed some great blues sound as my boat floated far enough off the shore that the zombies would not reach me and I could go mask free which I did. These sound awesome even though you are limited in placement to the sides of the center console. I would definitely purchase again. Just sitting on the dock of the bay watching zombies being blown away.........
Plus One size speaker sounding

6.5" speakers. Perfect upgrade for existing jbl ms 6200 I have had about five years. jBL labs keeps on improving and I will stay current from now on.
Jbl patented Plus One technology is no joke judging by the improved sound of these speakers.
Starting point is handmade by me speaker cabinets in boat cabin sitting on custom shelves bolted to bulkhead power 60 watts rms stereo and super audio cd player to sending analogue audio signal directly to my amp pass with through marine CD player for volume control.
So I have sacd signal working on boat.
So the jBL older model ms6200 speakers stand along the two or three best sounding marine speakers in the class.
Now here's where it gets interesting: jbl patented Plus One technology gives the ms6520 speaker the sound of a speaker a size larger , as in closer to 8" than 6.5.
!
I did A/B test installing new 6520 in left channel old 6200 in right channel. Left speaker simply overwhelmed the right by 20-30% with better bass, midrange, balance, loudness, amount of detail, everything. Plus One allows JBL to use a larger driver surface by up to 24% in the same hole. And It works. Better materials all round also especially tweeter.
Bottom line: this has got to be the best sounding 6.5" marine speaker in existence. If 60 watts rms per channel ain't enough for you I can't help you .
