Edimax products work for me, and the price is right.

Ok, I am not a network engineer, I have a HP 2600 with no wi-fi, so I bought this to put it on my wi-fi network. As I have the EDIMAX BR-6258n about a year ago, and am using it as an access point to cover a dead spot in my wi-fi network, and it works fine, can stream video on my wife's iPad, and my tablet it works. Speed is not was good as when I am close to my main wi-fi router. While this is in use with my printer I can not give speedtests for this item yet. I will buy another to make it an access point just to try, at this price, well why not.

My speed test for my EDIMAX BR-6258n I get a range fo 15 to 20 Mbps down and all three access points give 6 Mbps up. The best download speed is my main router at 20 to 30 Mbps, the free one from T-mobile only give 2 to 6 Mbps down, which might be because it has a long cat5 run, ???. In any case with the three access points I have access throughout the house, and my HP 2600 always prints using this Edimax EW-7438RPn.

It was easy to setup, just as was my first EDIMAX BR-6258n was. I like this one better as it is all in one unit, while my first on has a 5 volt power pack.

It even fits in the electric socket without blocking the other plug : )

I will update when I get the second one, as this is a N300 I expect it to be as fast if not much faster than the 150Mbps earlier model. As the earlier model gives me plenty of speed I do not think I will upgrade it, just leave what is working where it is.
You may need several but once installed it's basically 'set & forget'

Have 3 of these at strategic points around the house & internet signal never drops now. Not horrible to set up, but takes a bit sometimes- you need to be somewhat computer literate to be able to do this. Instructions are fairly straight forward, but sometimes things don't go exactly as they say. LOL If you have basic computer knowledge, you can usually set up without an issue...once set up it's basically set & forget- I never have disconnect issues like other people have posted. Once set, they work & that's that. Very handy if you are trying to extend to 'dead' areas of the house. Keep in mind that you may need several if you are trying to bridge long distances.
Great product!

Easy to set up - it boosts the signal to the rest of our big house, making it easy to use a tablet in the kitchen, or exercise videos in the family room while the router is all the way back in the master bedroom.
For the money cannot go wrong

I did an in depth test of 3 wifi to ethernet bridges.

For testing I setup 3 beaglebone blacks with a cron task to run hourly the following script:
root@bbb:/etc/cron.hourly# cat speed_script
#!/bin/sh
/usr/bin/speedtest-cli --simple >> /home/debian/speedtest.log
echo "" >> /home/debian/speedtest.log

Internet is gig fiber provided by an ASUS RT-N56U

After a week here were the results (averaged values):

It worked! Instructions were poor and I had to try it in a few places to get good reception. I researched others and discovered that almost all of them are this strength regardless of price so I opted for the less expensive model and it did the job. (I am only using it for my phone, so I have no idea how it performs for tablets or computers.)
