this is by far the best matching game we have found for him
Mel FApril 16, 2018
I have a child who loves the alphabet, this is by far the best matching game we have found for him. Having the letters on one card and a word that starts with that letter on the other is great! The pictures on each card is wonderful too. This has allowed my younger child to play the matching game and learn his letters along with the older one. This has become a fun family game night game for the kids (ages 3 & 4).
Really wanted to love this set. Maybe when my kids a bit older.

Really wanted to love this set. I thought for sure the illustrations would be colorful enough for a toddler but not too busy. So the pro is, the illustrations are great. Really simple, charming style and it even clearly shows Capital and Lowercase letters.

The cons: The cards themselves are a bit smaller and feel flimsier than a regular deck of playing cards. Did not have a deck to compare it to but this seems to be the case. But I'm willing to look past those things. The biggest con for me was that for a game of Matching, the pairs of cards contain differing labels. For instance, one image of an apple reads "Apple" and the other reads "Aa"..."Worm" vs "Ww" and so on. This has caused tremendous confusion for my little one still figuring out the mechanics of the game. When your two year old points out to YOU they look different, its a problem. Others have mentioned some cards use troubling items for pronunciation. C is for Cheese for instance, not "Ch"

So its a good size for traveling, but without the cards actually matching, I may have to hold off a bit so its not as confusing. I got a cheaper 3-in-1 set with an Old maid that doubles as a Matching game instead.
... really helping him learn his letters I would definitely recommend this

Vibrant, cute, fun to play. Minor issues.

Sturdy cards, cute illustrations, many games to play. Certainly a fun and helpful tool in teaching preschoolers letters and phonetics.

Small cons:
Letter C is for cheese. A traditional "C" would have been better than "CH".
Letters q, I, and a were not traditional preschool/kindergarten font. It was a little confusing for my preschoolers at first.
Great for preschoolers!

I got this game because my daughter is getting ready to go to preschool this fall and we needed s little help with letter recognition. This game is great. Each card has a picture of something beginning with the letter and then one matching card has the letter and the other has a word. My daughter caught on very quickly, we play with half the deck at a time, since 53 cards is a bit much for a 3 year old. Sometimes we even just play with 12 cards with the letters she has the most trouble with. Definitely suggest buying this for preschoolers.
