Weak Magnetic
JCM Upstate NY✓ Verified PurchaseOctober 7, 2017
Disappointed, magnetic very weak. I used this on my interior sliding barn style door. Not strong enough to hold door unless its closed right against it. Will not "grab" the door unless its a a dead stop. As others pointed out the installation screws that anchor it to the floor are poor. I machined the base out I could use larger screws. Would probably work on a regular swinging door if you held the door against it to activate.
Very nice product, better than expected

Very nice product, better than expected. Would be nice to be offered in bronze or other finish but that does not affect the product performance. Also agree with prior review that dimensions should be mentioned for a more "educated" purchase: installation over carpet requires longer screws than those provided and the holes in the product must, in most cases, be drilled out to accommodate larger screws. As a result had to fabricate wood base to raise stopper unit high enough to reach round plate magnetic base on door (Screws drew unit "down" into carpet). On wood, no problem. Plan accordingly.
Just what we needed

This worked fantastic. We have a door at church that would blow closed from wind. Tried different things that kept failing with all the traffic. This door magnet is strong enough to hold that door open from the wind yet breaks free easily should it be pulled on. Small enough to not be intrusive.

Other reviews commented on how low it is to the floor. I agree with that. We were fortunate our door was low to the ground so it wasn't a problem. If you have a higher clearance it would need to be shimmed in order to work properly.
Sturdy, Easy Installation

Sturdy, easy to install, ordered more. I tried a couple of variations of magnetic door holders and this is the one I liked best for the combination of being stainless, durable and easy and flexible to install. Most of the other versions have "pedestals" so if someone pushes the door hard, it can overload the device. For some applications you need the "reach" of a pedestal style so in that case go with it. This comes with screws that are right for most applications, but it is also easy to substitute longer screws or any kind of anchor if you think you need it. I'm using these in a cottage where the windows are open and a breeze will slam the doors. These magnetic stops are perfect.
but easily disconnects to close the door

Used in my garage to prevent door to outside from hitting the dryer with the doorknob. Drilled into the concrete to use the plastic inserts for the screws and all works well. Has a spring inside that cushions the door when swung open so it doesn't make a big band sound. The metal piece that goes on the door catches the magnet on the door stop to hold it open if desired, but easily disconnects to close the door. This sits low to the ground so will not work if you have a door that has much space between the bottom of door and the floor. My door swings very low to the floor, maybe 1/4 inch space, and that works perfect.
