A complete waste of money.

WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY. I am an ex professional bassoonist from the '70s and '80s who studied with Ray Nowlin and Alan Goodman. I made my own reeds for 25 years. I play on a Heckel bassoon and continue to play in multiple groups. I stopped making reeds some time ago because I no longer played professionally and didn't want to take the time. After reading reviews and watching ads, I decided to try a Legere reed. The higher register was very thin, Eb and C# on the staff were very flat in tone and pitch, and the reed was extremely hard to blow. I contacted Legere to inquire about possible fixes. They never responded to multiple e-mails.

For this price, I expected better. My son plays the bassoon and he convinced me to get this reed. After using it a few times, he notices slits along the side which effected the lower range notes. We attempted to return it, but was denied.
Worth the money.

I still can't believe these exist. No soaking, no adjusting, no trimming; you just play them.
No, they're not perfect, but I think they work well enough in most situations.
Having regrets
Amazon CustomerJune 11, 2016
The reed opening is so narrow on the medium that I cannot produce the tones below the staff. It has a very tight, small sound. I am disappointed that I spent so much on a reed that does not produce a full range of sound. I knew when I ordered it that you could not adjust it, but took the chance, regretfully. An expensive mistake.
easy to play
