I can't get this to download onto my computer. I've tried and tried and tried. If anyone a the secret to downloading this program to Windows 10 I'll gladly remove this statement.

Thank you
Room for improvement, and still the best

I have the downloaded version of FH 6, bought from Calico Pie, about 2 years ago. I chose this program because I wanted a program that would be able to make a website (that I can control, rather than Ancestry) and most importantly: LINK MULTIPLE FACES IN A PHOTO. I dont know why this is so difficult to find in software. I can make a box around the face in the photo, and it links that crop to the person. I records the date of the photo as provided and puts in a time line. I can link multiple people in the photo. Same with linking specific parts of a document like a ship register. This program is not pretty or intuitive. But it's powerful, much like an Access database. It's flexible enough to link lots of nuances and does not lag, regardless to size. it allows me to add people who are not related, but has connection such as wedding witness and boarding room mates. Do I wish it was a flashy as Ancestry? Yeah. Do I wish they had a site I can just sync to to share and collaborate online. Yeah. But does it do the job of organizing too much information about people? Absolutely! I kinda love this and recommend trying the demo, and maybe reading the user forums. There's a lot to learn to use effectively, but even without knowing up front of your options, it's better than anything I've used. I'll be buying the upgrade when it comes out.
My experience with this has been great and somewhat surprised me

As a former FTM user I waited a year until purchasing a product that works with Windows10. I'm a bit particular about functionality and ease of navigation. My experience with this has been great and somewhat surprised me. The GEDCOM files imported easily, it's intuitive, screens contain plenty of information but are not cluttered. I would definitely recommend this software product.
Does the Job

I have been doing genealogical research for at least 20 years during which time I have used several software packages used for that purpose. All are basically a method of creating a genealogy data base. The differences between the software offered by the various companies are primarily in appearance and ease of use. All will create reports of various types. The "eye appeal" of these reports is a big selling point for some of the companies even though all such reports should contain the same basic information.
Family Historian meets all the requirements for this type of software and a somewhat attractive interface. I found the Family Historian interface to be similar to the now defunct Master Genealogist and thus somewhat cumbersome.
Family Historian does not provide the option to customize the appearance of the interface colors available in other companies. Flexibility in entering some data is also missing.
The software, like most similar software, provides links to genealogy websites and sharing information with others researching the same families. Such "sharing" is unreliable because mistakes in one person's data are copied by others so all are incorrect. There are numerous sites where actual documents, other than the census, can be viewed and often downloaded. FamilySearch.org is one such site and is free to use.
As with other types of software Family Historian is a matter of choice. As mentioned, it is simply a tool for creating a specialized database. It didn't fit my personal preferences.
... this new program and I think I will really like it, once I get used to it

I'm in the process of learning this new program and I think I will really like it, once I get used to it. There is no easy shortcuts and it takes time for a 77 year old to learn. But so far, I like it fine and have downloaded my info from Family Tree Maker via a GEDCOM file. It looks like it is going to be ok and has included everything in my other program, including notes.
