Drain Pipe Is Steel and Not Copper or Brass - Leaks - Avoid

The pop-up stopper drain looks nice and it works well so far that everything is installed.
My gripe is I had lots of problems getting a leak-free connection between the included drain pipe section and the stopper assembly. Very cheap design. That's Chinese products for you!
I ended up having to use an RTV sealant to get a leak-free joint between stopper assembly and drain pipe..
For my bathroom sink situation, I had to cut an inch off the bottom end of the drain pipe, and I discovered it is made of copper-plated steel, not brass.
So in a few years, most likely right after the 3-year warranty ends, it will rust out.
I am an experienced amateur plumber and the problems I had with leaks were design problems.
I am giving a 1-star rating because the drain pipe is steel and not brass.

Gets easily discolored with mold/mildew on the rubber ring and is very difficult to clean completely. Also, the drain is sooooo slow. I'm not sure how easy these are to replace, but we may end up swapping it out for a different one. We find that it drains slowly and then if you push the stopper in so that it can't drain for a minute, then pop it back up, it will all of a sudden drain at a normal rate. Then it quickly goes back to draining slowly. Basically, it's a pain and I would advise people to keep looking for something else.
Poor design. Lip that obstructs draining.

Boo Hiss. It sticks up and the water collects all around it. What's up with that? If I had any plumbing smarts and could have predicted this I never would have bought it. If you brush your teeth, you'll be greeted with your saliva and toothpaste next time you use the sink.

I was super surprised when this thing arrived and I found out it was made out of very nice quality materials and of decent workmanship. It's actually much nicer than what the picture gives it justice. I mounted mine into a hand-hammered copper sink that was less than 1/8 thick metal and it worked very nicely. It will also mount to a much thicker sink like porcelain too. The push-button drain stop clicks with authority. Not some cheap, easy to break stopper like you find on most. The only reason I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because, as others have also noted, it does stick up just a tiny bit proud of the bottom of the sink and so a very small amount of water does stay around the drain in the sink after most of the water has drained away. IMPORTANT NOTE: This is NOT because of the design of this product! It's because I, and others, installed it into a sink that doesn't have sufficient lip at the bottom to drop this thing down into so that it's below the water drain level. It's because of the sink I chose, not this product. This is important to note. So, if you have a normal sink, this will work even better than it did for me.

Overall it's pretty good, it holds a good seal if you need to hold water. It's a bit bigger than I was expecting, I feel like you need a large sink or it just looks like you've got a giant stopper. Sometimes the water doesn't drain as well with this, not sure why, just drains slow. Other times it's great. If it drains slowly try closing it and opening it up again and that seems to do the trick.
