Solid Riding Jeans at a Decent Price

I'm 5'3" and about 110-115 lbs with short legs and have an athletic body type. I've been searching for women's armored kevlar jeans for nearly half a decade, thanks to the strange fit of a lot of women's riding pants made by companies that usually only make pants for men. These jeans are reassuringly heavy but still actually fit like they're made for women. They taper at the waist like high waisted skinny jeans, and the fabric does stretch a bit. The seams and pockets are nice and sturdy, and I don't mind that the knee pads attach with velcro - that actually enabled me to adjust the pads perfectly. For my height and size, the 28 is perfect. I'll probably have to hem them up about 3 inches since the 28 Short were out of stock and rolling them up twice nearly cuts off circulation when I'm zipped into my riding boots. I'd probably wear a 26 without the pads, but the hip armor adds to the waistline. I'm impressed by the shape and design of the hip armor which allows the jeans to bend and crease without any padding digging in uncomfortably.

The knee pads are bulky and frankly not very attractive, but they're easy to pull out through the thigh zippers and the velcro is pretty darn strong. I had to seat my knee pads low. They look wrong when I'm standing up, but sitting on my bike with my knees bent (mid-mounts), the pads sit perfectly. My only complaint about these jeans is that the pocket for the knee pads has no bottom (you can reach down through the thigh zipper and feel bare shin), so the knee pads could go all the way down your leg. They probably won't, but they could. I'll probably throw a few stitches in to avoid that possibility.

Overall, I think Maxler did a great job. They're not Instagram-friendly UglyBros, but they're half the price and I find them to be an adequately comfortable and user-friendly alternative.
Low-Rise, Stretch. Fits like Mens sizing with leg taper. Hip Armor different.

I'm 5'4" and 155lbs and purchase size 32. These fit like a low rise jean - or mens jeans, do not expect a "mom-jean" waist. I don't usually show photos of my belly, but because these fit so well I wanted to demonstrate why. I usually cannot wear women's pants because where most women go IN at the waist - I go OUT (in my youth that was straight... but alas, I like eating more than staying straight). Also, I am NOT hippy, and I do NOT have a large butt, so these are still fairly loose around that area, but not saggy like non-elastic pants (If I get a women's size that fits my gut, the hip & butt area is huge). WHAT I LIKE - LOW RISE!!! Where these hit at the waistband (not normal "waist" measurement" - below belly - see photo) I measure a soft 35" with a tape. That said, I can fit comfortably in a mens 32 x 30 jean (especially if it has any elasticity - if not sometimes I need a 34). On top, these fit almost exactly like a mens 32 slim, which not only fits me comfortably, but has some additional stretch available (photo). These pants have a 34" inseam, so I will be trimming a few inches off (see photos). I like pants stretch pants that are not super tight. If I wanted skin-tight I could probably have actually fit into a size 30, but my goal is loose comfort, so 32 is great.
HIP ARMOR is different in women's than mens (photo) - It's cloth! Bonus: it looks cooler, more breathable, and more comfortable. Negative: it doesn't look nearly as protective as the slab of rubber the guys get. I puzzled a bit about which to put it in & finally decided the smooth edge towards the back so the other edge could crease at the gap when I'm sitting (see photo). It's basically the same size area-wise as mens, but much thinner.
KNEE ARMOR is adjustable and comfortable. The pants have enough stretch to let it in & are snug enough to hold it in place without a pocket. BONUS: You can insert and remove knee armor through the leg vent! On days where I ride to an event where I will stay a significant length of time, I will happily slide the knee armor out for more comfortable walking. Women's knee armor is appropriately slightly smaller than mens (side-by-side photo is women's vs men's).
I am very excited to have a women's jean that fits up top, because men's tend to fit up top but then are huge in the lower leg (I have a 32 & 34 mens that I also tried on - the 32 fits very similarly on top, but is large on the calf & ankle). If you are wondering about size, I recommend going to the store & try on mens slim-fit stretch pants & figure out what fits your waist - then know the calf-ankle will taper. I added the "inside out" photos because I always appreciate seeing those to better understand where the protection is & is not.
fit is not quite right.

Had to get the size that would fit my thighs and butt and hips, which means the waist is a solid 6-8 inches too big. Most jeans are like this but you would think for $165 this company could get a clue that women are shaped--for the most part--with BIGGER HIPS AND THIGHS than their waist. The cut is cool looking and the pads/insert pockets are handy--I went down in them without the pads and slid a few feet on pavement with not even a scuff on the thick high quality denim. I also got the right length according to the chart and they were at least 5 inches too long.
Great protection that looks great.

I was looking for pants that were a little more form fitting than most out there. I'm 5'4" 140lbs and originally got a 29 but that didn't fit. Sent it back no problem and got the 30 and they fit perfectly. Pads and all. I don't wear any layers underneath though. The knee pads are adjustable. They don't show crack 😂 and the vents are amazing! Very happy. These are my 1st pair of motercycle pants. Hope this helps.

These are the second pair I had to order for my wife. She has a nice figure and absolutely loves how these fit tight. If you plan on wearing the internal protectors, buy one size up. If you don't plan on wearing the internal protectors, then you will probably be ok if you like a super tight fit. But if you don't wear the protectors, you can probably get away with buying a cheaper pair of kevlar jeans. My wife especially liked the fact that they were cut and stitched well for women.
