I've been using these on some smaller gauge wire and I'm absolutely impressed with how well they work. I've got all kinds of wire strippers I've tried over the years and so far these are my hands-down favorite.

What surprised me was how reasonably sized the tool was. It's impossible to get a sense of scale for it from the pictures, but when it arrived I found it fits comfortably in my hand, it didn't take up much room, and was immediately usable.

I generally work with small gauge wires on hobbyist electronic projects so I will look forward to continuous use of them. Not sure how long they'll remain sharp though so I might buy a backup set just in case.

I never tried one of the "automatic" type wire strippers, but I'm totally sold! My dad was an electrician and always used regular pliers-type strippers and thought these type of things were cheap junk (tbf most probably are). But, I got tired of trying - being a little OCD - to get all my wires stripped the perfect amount any time I was working on a project, like putting in an outlet or a switch. This little guy has earned a permanent place in my electrical tool pouch. Time will tell if it holds up, but I don't see any potential issues as far as durability. Now, I'm not using this on the job, so take that for what it's worth. No issues at all stripping anything, from 12ga solid cables down to little 20ga stranded wires in automotive stuff. The little stopper is easy to adjust to set your desired strip length and then just go to work. I always make sure I pull the trigger slowly and deliberately to let the mechanism do its work, and I suspect you might have trouble if you're trying to just squeeze fast like a madman, as there's quite a few moving parts to the action.

Bottom line: if you do any wiring within the range of gauges that this can handle, you need this tool!

First off, don't sweat that this tool is made of plastic. It's fiber reinforced plastic and pretty tough. The built in cutter is nice for quick wire end leveling and clean up. No need to pick up another tool. The stripping mechanism is simple and works very well. The only reason I have to deduct 1 star is that anytime I set and use the strip length stop, the stripper never clears the spent wire casing. I have to stop to pluck it out. I'm using it on 16awg to 12awg tinned marine wire, so this type of wiring jacket may just be the cause.
Overall, it's still a great wire stripper, very light weight, and easy to line up and focus your cutting. Ergonomically speaking, hands down, its the best wire stripper design out there. If they could design in a spring lever to eject the wire casing on the return open, then it easily go Smithsonian level great.

I don't know how I've lived without this fantastic tool all these years! I've had tons of others over the last 35 years, many of them as a car audio installer, but this one strips wire like nothing I've ever used!!!
I just finished wiring 7 Deutsch connectors for a Haltech Elite ecu that is in my Supra, and after the first 2 plugs (an 8 pin and a 10 pin), I had to find something that stripped wire easier and cleaner than my good old Blue Point crimper/cutter from the late '80's.
Bought this thing and literally in a few minutes, I had 60 wires cut and stripped (with the vinyl case on each wire still left on the end so the wire doesn't fray before I crimped each pin to it) with no issues at all! I've even used it to strip back the middle of a wire enough to do a military wrap without it nicking or breaking 14AWG wire, I just slid the stop all the way back and angled the wire in the cutting area to do so.
I think this stripper will be around long after I'm gone, unless the plastic housing falls apart or breaks, although it feels like a heavy-duty abs-type of plastic so it shouldn't be much of an issue.

Tool is very light weight, which gives an initial impression of cheapness, but was very impressed and satisfied with the quality after initial use. The stripper does appear to have a limitation on max. length of cable stripped, but 98% of the time will not be an issue. Definitely worth the money and well designed, just what I expected from German engineering. Five Stars
