I love this thing. My favorite tool purchase of the year. I had to take down some significant clinging vines off some trees, without harming the trees. That required some careful cutting, chopping, and prying -- all of which this tool handled great. Its weight and size just seem ideal -- heavy duty enough to get the job done while still being manageable for using all day. It came sharp enough for rough work, but I was able to sharpen it up better without too much effort.

Excellent tool, makes short work of tree limbs, saplings and the thicker brush. The thinner brush/weeds is too springly/flexible for this tool, and a long machete makes short work of those kinds of guys.

This bill-hook brush axe is compact, HEAVY as can be and really, really sharp. As is stated in the description, the 4 mm thickness, heavy gauge high tensile Manganese Carbon steel (heat treated for maximum strength) makes it pretty formidable. An enormous appliance size, heavy duty cardboard box met its end on the day that I received this little gem. Its heft feels really good during the swing but it is still quite manageable for a little hand and a short reach. The handle is a stacked raw edged leather, so nice! I suppose some edged weapon aficionados might choose to oiled it (linseed?) but I decided to leave it in its raw state to patina naturally with use. Came shipped very sharp and still is, even after all that cardboard.
